Kaum etwas auf dieser Welt ist so ergreifend wie die Macht der Natur. Sie lässt uns vor Ehrfurcht erstarren und versetzt doch gleichzeitig unseren Körper in Ekstase. Ihre Ambivalenz scheint ihr inneres Geheimnis zu sein. Wir verstecken uns vor der brachialen Kraft und suchen doch die Nähe dieser faszinierenden Phänomene. So können wir uns zum Beispiel der bizarren Schönheit eines Gewitters nicht entziehen. Es lässt uns zusammen zucken und doch können wir unseren Blick nicht vom Himmel abwenden. Elektrisiert und verstört lässt es uns zurück. Der graue Alltag plötzlich zerrissen, Gedanken durcheinander gewirbelt , die Sinne betäubt... 
Gewaltig und atemberaubend zugleich wird auch unsere heutige deep story von Four Hands. Wie eine Naturgewalt erregt es Geist und Körper und zieht uns in seinen Bann. Erregung und Staunen wechseln sich ab, bis bis wir völlig erschöpft auf repeat drücken, um das Ganze nochmal erleben zu dürfen.

Nothing on this planet is more overpowering than the force of nature. I leaves us petrified with awe and at the same time fills us with a feeling of ecstasy. This ambivalence seems to be our inner paradox. We want to hide from this overwhelming force but still we can’t resist to go and search these fascinating phenomena. 
The bizarre beauty of a thundershower is a perfect example of this. The bolts of lightning make us shiver from fear but still we can’t look away from the sky. It leaves us electrified and clueless. It breaks up the boring greyness of everyday life, shakes up our thoughts and stimulates our senses…
This deep story is also such an overwhelming and breathtaking experience. Just like the force of nature, it shakes up your body and soul and fills you with awe. Moments of arousal and astonishment will alternate in quick succession and will finally leave you worn-out. But still, you will press the ‘repeat’ button, because you just can’t resist going through all these overwhelming experiences once again…

Mit unserer heutigen Nummer 114 präsentieren wir euch eine fantastische Afterhour vom Berliner DJ-Urgestein Madmotormiquel. 

Aufgewachsen ist Michi in den wilden 80er Jahren in West-Berlin. Ganz früh war für ihn klar --- Musik ist mein Ding. Beeinflusst von Punk-Rock und US Punk der späten 80er Jahre war ihm schnell klar das Musik-Genre-Grenzen nichts für ihn sind. Seine große Leidenschaft zum Hip-Hop ebnete dann auch den Weg zu den ersten elektronischen Produktionen.  Am Anfang mehr ein Party-DJ mit allen Genres die im so unterkamen, so entwickelte sich sein Stil im Laufe der Zeit mehr und mehr hin zum Techno und House. Erlebnisse wie seine erste Fusion Anfang 2000 entführten ihn dann endgültig in die wilde Party-Szene Berlins. Als Teil des Party-Kollektivs Bachstelzen veränderte er die Party-Szene Berlins mit aufwändigen Partys in Off-Locations nachhaltig. 

Seit 2006 fing er dann an seine eigenen Produktionen äußerst erfolgreich erst auf diversen Net-Labels zu veröffentlichen. Im Jahre 2010 folgte dann das erste Release zusammen mit Sebo und Nayan Soukie auf Sasse’s Label Mood Music.  Zusammen mit Sebo und Soukie&Windish gründete er dann 2010 das Label URSL-Records das sich schnell zum Aushängeschild des Berlin-Sounds entwickelte. 

Durch sein ganz spezielles Gefühl für den Dance-Floor ist Michi weltweit ein gefragter Mann hinter den Decks. Ob USA, Südamerika, Australien oder Afrika Burn … Michi ist da zu finden wo gute Partys entstehen, wie heute z.B. auf dem Feel-Festival ;-)

Auch gerade seine Podcasts haben es uns in den letzten Jahren sehr angetan. Den heutigen Podcast für Afterhour Sounds schickte er uns mit den Worten „istn bisschen länger und spezieller geworden“ was wir nur unterstreichen können … er läuft hier seit Tagen in der Dauerschleife. Michi vielen lieben Dank für deine Liebe zur Musik und dieses 2stündige Meisterwerk. Aber nun genug der Worte … liebe Hörer freut euch mit uns zusammen auf 2 Stunden Madmotormiquel in Reinform.

Speaking In Tongues - When We Dip Radio #19 [14.7.17]

Originally from Istanbul, Turkey, Tuğçe Kurtiş grew up with a love for music, especially music performance. At age 6, she joined the school choir and started singing. Since then, she performed in countless occasions in Turkey, the US, Brazil, Costa Rica and Paraguay. Tuğçe studied voice, ear training, jazz vocals, and West-African drumming with percussionist Milford Graves and singer & songwriter Sheila Jordan among others. Various listeners have remarked that her voice is "ethereal", "something ancient, calling from the primeval darkness of fairytale". Tuğçe's musical interests cross genres and continents. She has collaborated as a singer, songwriter, and co-producer with Paraguayan musician & producer Santi on three albums: Ciclico (2014), Songs for Another Day (2015), and El Regreso del Gallito (2016). She has also released four singles: Istanbul'a (2017), Donde Va (2016), Sevda Çiçeği   (2016) and Backflash (2015). As the founder of the Kybele project, she aspires to develop opportunities for greater collaboration and broader inclusion of artists from around the world.

Die Türen öffnen sich, leicht säurig. Herein, heraus, in die Cenote. Leicht benetzt ein jeder und ein überhaupt, ganz sanft so über allem. Mitten im Urwald, ganz weit, ganz wach, ganz nahbar und ganz fern, haben @WIDE-AWAKE-8 gespielt und mitgebracht was wir hier hören. Ganz live halt und ganz schön, auch ohne Blätterdach.

We're very happy to share with you a snippet of tunes from our 5-hour set on the beach at Maxa Camp!  It was just wonderful to spend the day on our favorite beach playing music to such a fantastic crowd.  We journeyed gradually from old funk, reggae, and Brazilian songs to the deeper dancey vibe you'll hear in this mix.  The day ended dramatically, with a surprise rainstorm, mini party in the DJ booth, and a giant rainbow to top it all off!  Huge thanks to the folks at Maxa for welcoming us <3
