Exciting new DJ and production duo ZO:NA debut their
first EP on Rollover Milano Records. It features two
moody and atmospheric fusions of techno, wave and dark
chug that are unlike anything you will have heard.
Pierantonio Gualtieri (iltoro) and Guglielmo Prati (dove quiete) formed ZO:NA in Milan and mix different cultures and backgrounds into transgressive sounds focused on the dance floor. Both are creative free spirits who head out on a shared path with a simple goal: to throw out discomfort and turn it into dance music. They make slow techno with meaningful dialogues of voices full of honesty and obscurity. Their sound is equally apocalyptic and ecstatic as proven across these two powerful cuts.
This Italian pair kick off with 'Girare a piedi con il vento' which is described by the pair as "a community song to liberate the ego the frustration and dance to the rhythm of techno." It is a gritty post-apocalyptic club sound. The drums are heavy, with blasts of filthy bass, jumbled DIY percussive sounds and an intimidating male vocal, courtesy of the artist sodapop. The scuzzy pads and dark wave synths add to the intensity of this soot-black backroom chugger. 
'Io non Ballo sulla Techno' was recorded in a live performance, at night, in a forest and is "a cathartic moment that represents the power of music and improvisation." It is another mid-tempo chugger with angelic vocals from Beiza offering a counterpoint to sodapop’s tribal male voice and the weighty kicks and bass. It's bleakly theatrical with intoxicating strings drawing you in deep to this shadowy sound. Instrumental versions are also included and become even more moody and claustrophobic and scuzzy club cuts of the sort an ALFOS crowd
would love.
This is an epic debut from ZO:NA who prove they have already found a unique signature sound.

Parallela is a new enigmatic artist who hails from Tel Aviv and arrives on thescene with no social media accounts or digital footprint. It's the music that comes first and he has been snapped up by Stripped Down who are going to work alongside him to get his richly emotive sounds out to the world.

For a brand-new artist, Parallela has a remarkably accomplished sound. The first track 'Waypoint' proves that with its angelic synth work and smooth rolling drums. There is a classical elegance to the arrangement that is underpinned by lush beats and an aching vocal that casts a hypnotic spell. It's epic in scale and stylish in execution. 'Q Point' shows a different side - here the drums are heavier, the synths are tense and tortured and the organic percussion adds detail to this late-night exploration. It's packed with original sound designs and make for a dramatic ride.
Austrian-born Ken Hayakawa steps up to remix after more than 20 years of crafting stylish house, often on this label. His first remix brings some cosmic tension to 'Waypoint.' The arps rise up the scale and more frazzled loops add extra bite. A second remix of the same track flips it into a deep roller meditative marching drums and dreamy melodies.
This is an exquisite EP that announces the irresistible sounds of Parallela to the
world.

In the title track, Cologne-based Alex Schalm combines a dark, slow-moving club sound between wave and rave with his emotional vocals, what reminisces of Gus Gus‘ club epics from the last decade. Afterhour Sounds is since his begining in 2012 a crew of music lovers, music makers and music supporters. What started as an small idea developed over the years into an important institution in the field of electronic dance in and beyond germany. Our goal was and still is to enrich the world with different interpretations of the afterhour. 

In the beginning, we focused our passion on finding and supporting (un)known artists through blog posts, reposts and podcast contributions. Gradually, we expanded our sections to include live recordings and premieres. In-house releases and events were not long in coming. The crew changed, but the passion and spirit remained.
