With the fourth Realm Of Consciousness compilation, Tale Of Us shine a light on the artists whose work has shaped their sets in recent times.

There are contributions from Afterlife’s longtime regulars like Recondite, Adriatique, Mind Against, Woo York and Vaal. From those who have come through the label in more recent times: Ae:ther, Mathame, Agents Of Time, Innellea, Fideles and Kevin De Vries. And, as always with the compilation, there are new faces: Colyn, Blausch, ANNA, ARTBAT, Coeus, Lyke, Murat Uncuoglu, Lehar & Aldebaran and ENØS.

Release Info: 
The mastermind behind the label, Definition himself returns with a massive new solo release, Falling EP. With his last solo release nearly a year back, one look at the tracklist gives us an idea why; 5 new and exclusive works – quality takes time.

The title track opens the EP in a deep and melodic landscape burning low and steady. The vocal cuts bring an ethereal vibe as the synths crescendo and the kick beats on.

Next Dimitri shows us another side, ‘Tulipe Noir’ engages us in an electric fantasy full of swirling arpeggios cloaked in retro vibes. The collaboration with his friend Def:Play spends a tribute to an old Soul, which introduced them and kicked off the start for a beautiful friendship. A beautiful adventure right from the begin, thanks to a stunning arrangement and a knack for flow.

‘Emotions’ drops us in a world of deep heavy kicks with tense air between them. The pads rise. The reason for our journey is clear as the floor throbs with bass. But that’s not all, the waters get warmer, and the sun does shine, if only briefly.

Turning up the groove, ‘Gone’ melts the tension with a smooth groove and a solid drive. By the middle of the track, we’re caught with a contagious rhythm and natural swing.

The final track of the EP is perhaps its warmest – a beautiful break-beat adventure fantastically vocalized by Liu Bei. ‘Rise Again’ is that upbeat catchy summer tune you just can’t get enough of – done tastefully and elegantly. A beautiful and warm conclusion to an outstanding EP.

The third Realm Of Consciousness compilation on Tale Of Us’ Afterlife Recordings is the label’s most complete statement so far.

The four-vinyl opus opens with Tale Of Us’ now anthemic ‘Nova’, a high-impact and well-loved staple of their sets this year. Agents Of Time continue with the percussive rattle of ‘Paradigm’, before the first released collaboration between luminaries Recondite and Henrik Schwarz shines with understated melody.

Amongst Mind Against’s eerie masterpiece ‘Portal’ and impressive first appearances on Afterlife from Scuba (as SCB) and Steve Rachmad (as Sterac) are ethereal contributions from Fideles, Ovend and Øostil. UK techno veteran Edit Select channels the darker, hypnotic spirit of Afterlife with ‘Phase In’, setting up the sprawling, 14-minute epic from Luigi Tozzi and Antonio Ruscito.

To begin the compilation’s fourth disc, Konstantin Sibold & Kosme’s ‘Cyclone’ lifts the tone, leading into a more introspective sound from Hunter/Game on ‘Changing Weather’. Upcoming German talent Kevin De Vries follows with his infectious cut ‘Mágoa’ and Tone Depth ends the odyssey in mesmerising style with ‘Ibn Sina’.

The full spectrum of Tale Of Us’ Afterlife label is on display here, as they continue to push the envelope with a high-quality and diverse selection of artists.

Buckle up brothers and sisters, BOg is back on Monaberry and he's taking us on a trip direct to the heart of the Sahara on a magic carpet made of crisp arpeggios and powered by barbed soul hurricane atmospheric. The richly talented duo Mathame featured on the second Realm Of Consciousness compilation and have since been regulars in the sets of Tale Of Us with some sought-after, unreleased tracks. Their distinctive treatment of vocals marks their tracks out instantly, nowhere more so than on ‘Nothing Around Us’, with the cyber voice of the young Italian artist Lyke. The top quality production and original sound continue with the more understated ‘22’ and end with another prime example of Mathame’s vocal work, ‘Fade Into You’. This EP is a bold statement that crystallises the well-deserved excitement around Mathame.

Kevin De Vries delivers big room drama on his ‘Aratak’ EP for Afterlife Recordings. 

Spirited synth lines, drum rolls, gripping moments of silence and weighty kick drums make the title track of De Vries’ Afterlife debut formidable club gear. ‘Sciamachy’ is more subtle, centred around a euphoric arpeggio which spirals to its apex. Konstantin Sibold contributes a fine remix, toning down certain elements of ‘Sciamachy’ to let others shine.
