Beswerda - Turmoil

French brothers Betical, return to Oddity after being present on Odd Echoes Vol.4 and showing us their remixing skills on Avidus “Wanderer s Nightsong”.Now the time has come to present us their debut EP “Trouble”, including a fabulous remix by the duo Baime.

The opening track, "Trouble", is a groovy and melodic dancefloor weapon. Its main melody, catchy and haunting, gradually builds the track, accompanied by textures and percussions that complement each other. As we move forward and into the drop, the classic chord transitions and signature synths that make Betical unique and recognizable, play along a sort of emotional vocal ad lib, returning in full force to this dancefloor groover.

The next track in the pack is “Wildfire”, a deeper but still powerful heavenly melodic track, with Tailor's lovely vocals coming in full on the drop, creating so many beautiful harmonic layers with the synths and chords coming together.

In the remix duties, the Copenhagen duo, rework the track, with a distorted bass hook stab, adding their classic percussive elements, and playing with other elements of the original. The highlight of the track is when they show us their main melody, giving us a total twist on the original version.

To close the EP, betical presents “Oro”, a track more focused on electronica, with breaks rhythms, accompanied by vocal cuts, and pads that run through the track. The emotions never cease to surprise us in this last track, which makes it even more powerful when the main melody enters.

With recent releases for some of the scene’s leading labels, Fideles (aka Daniele Aprile and Mario Roberti) are an Italian duo on the rise. Their spellbinding ‘Impressum’ EP is both a fine example of the Fideles sound and exactly in keeping with the direction Tale Of Us are steering their Afterlife label. Inspired by the Ionian sea in Southern Italy, low-pitched basslines and soaring synths give the tracks just the right amount of drama, whilst the rich sound-design allows them to make the most of a big system; something Tale Of Us have put to great use in their sets this year. Take the emotionally-charged title track, the rolling, mechanical drums of ‘Kalotypse’ or the more restrained ‘Hadar’. Ukrainian duo Woo York deliver a powerful, driving, dark-yet-sophisticated sound on their upcoming ‘Chasing The Dream’ LP, set to drop on May 4 as the first artist album on Afterlife.

Opening with the brooding and thought-provoking cosmic stabs of the aptly titled ‘Inception’, Woo York guide you through a fluid-like path across ‘Chasing the Dream’, offering fluttering synths on ‘Walk Along The Rainbow’ and a rattling percussive core to ‘There Is A Light.’ Their signature 303 magic hints at acid on ‘Through Peaks and Valleys’, and there is ice-cold ambience to finish in ‘Rise’ and an alternate mix of the title track. Fur Coat’s Oddity imprint seeks to continue its quality musical output. For the thirteenth release of the label, they welcome Esoteric Circle who present a stacked package of Melodic Techno, with two remixes to boot.

Esoteric Circle is born from the minds of two French brothers, Julien and Raphael Piacentino. Bringing their emotions together into a new and innovative sound, they focus on elaborate synth melodies and minimal percussive sounds to create tracks aimed directly at the dance-floor.

The Parisian duo present four original tracks on the EP, the first of which is ¨Odissea¨. Characterised by deep basslines and moving melodic progressions this sets the tone for the EP, transporting you to the deeper moments on the dance-floor. Moving forward “Matina del Amor” offers a faster paced setting, agile percussion programming pushes the track onwards taking the listener with it on its journey.

Lastly “Tomorrow Is In Your Hands” the title track mixes up the offerings. Opting for a two step style beat, this switches the script perfectly, developing synths over the top of the off kilter beat provide an emotive and thought provoking tracks. Lastly “Night Appearance” rounds of the package, a slower and impassioned track which brings set ending moments to mind.

Joining the brothers on the package are Julian Wassermann and Remcord, neither are strangers to the Oddity family and both provide remixes of “Odissea” and “Tomorrow Is In Your Hands” respectively.
Julian’s remix provides a lighter edition to the original, whilst Remcord’s remix offers a darker and deeper sound, both dovetailing on the record nicely. 

Esoteric Circle have Putting forward a strong and soundly compiled EP. An expansive pack, offering a large amount and tying in perfectly with the sound that Oddity has been making its name with.
