Undercurrents EP50 ▪️ SPECIAL GUEST: Somfay ▪️ Aug. 20 '21

This is an *unofficial unreleased vocal rework* I did of Alexander Church's Central Coherence. The lyrics and theme are based on Elisabeth Kubler-Ross and her famous book 'On Death & Dying' (1969) where she speaks of how the dying person can teach us a great deal about life. How they can teach us.... how to live.

Working on this project was one of the most intense experiences I've had musically...as I found myself overcome with emotion as I researched & pondered my own fear and thoughts around death. To add to this, in the middle of the arrangement of the first draft late Sunday night, I looked up from my workstation straight ahead to see flames shooting out in front of my living room window. A fire had broken out next door to me on the neighbor's balcony...needless to say, I was in a bit of shock as I dialed 911...

It was a year ago Oct.12th that I was back in lovely Amsterdam for the biggest music conference/festival in the world - ADE - and my 2nd European tour, starting with my 2nd gig at ClubNL with my friend Marc de Koning. Following that I hosted a 12-hour marathon event as well as played an ADE closing day b2b set at Recycle Lounge. Amazing memories that week, including meeting one of my top inspirations, Max Cooper & being treated to not one, but three of his shows. I certainly hope to be back there in 2021 and that we all get to do what we love most again....

As we head in to the end of this crazy year, I have something really special coming on Dec.14th -- my debut EP on @configofself alongside label head, Alexander Church 🤩 
Alex & I first connected in early 2019 when I discovered his work through a promo I received. Instantly hooked on his lush melodic sound, his productions made regular appearances in my sets and this summer, he asked me to collaborate and do vocals - something I'd been wanting to do for a while. Deeply rooted in psychological thinking and ideas, both 'In the Field' and 'Curious Paradox' would become Configurations 12, with two vocal cuts & two instrumentals. They received great feedback & support from @gai-barone @jamiestevens, @navarofficial, @djnickwarren, @filterbear, @melodystranger, @whomadewho @chriscargo, @fractalarchitect and @Audioglider, to name a few. And you'll hear one of them on today's show :) 

I'm also excited to announce that I'm the new manager for Configurations of Self & will be working closely with Alex to grow the label in the coming year.
