The original really spoke to me because of the brilliant use of acoustic instruments, Max used the traditional instruments to turn it into a psychedelic ambient piece. The first time I listened to it, it immediately inspired me to chop it up and turn it all around. I always try to really honor the original by making the remix highly recognizable but also make something totally new with it. In my own music I am always pretty focused on harmonies so the beautiful melodies in 'Woven Ancestry' made it very easy for me to work with.

So I kept true to the chords and added my personal flavor to it. The timing on the other hand was a bigger challenge, after a couple of hours of cutting and pasting I came to a result that was something I could work with. I chose to take a triplet approach to give the track a laidback feel and still give it a danceable tempo, without making the melodies too chaotic and rushed. The main idea was to keep the track organic; I used acoustic drums, a fretless bass and my own voice to give it a more human feel. I added the somewhat haunting pads to make a nice contrast between the rhythmical harps, kora’s and cello’s Max used so well.

The track became a long and stretched piece, in the hope it would be a small journey, just like the original. I hope you like it, enjoy!

"Interstellar " is the seventh release of Aftertech Records by the legendary Luis M. This portugese mastermind has created two very powerful yet delicate tracks. In this EP he exceeds all expectations and created two monster tracks which will echo loudly trough the deep spaces of the most underground clubs for years to come. Together with the input of remixers Stoertebeker (Half of Unique Repeat) and the great South African Ryan Sullivan this has become one hell of an EP.

Stoertebeker finishes this EP with his remix of Interstellar. Although remaining true to the original vibe he has managed to underline it with a more dirty bassline. He supplements the storytelling with a wobbing synth which seems to communicate with the orignal melody. A wonderful creation.

Breach EP

'It’s the turn of Brazilian producer Against The Time to deliver something special on Us & Them Records. The first track of the EP is called ‘Colider’, it’s a rather melancholic track with a haunting and intense vibe. The pace of the drums keeps the track going, even in the calmer parts of this beautiful soundscape. The second track called ‘Judgement’ is a more emotional cut. The track has less pace than Colider, that however does not mean it lacks dancefloor potential. Last but not least of the original mixes is ‘Vandal’. It’s a melodic track with lots of flowing elements that ultimately create a danceable groove. The main break cuts all the drums for maximum drama, but quickly returns to the tunnel where it came from.
The originals are accompanied by three remixes. First of there is the Colider remix by Paul Anthonee. It is a high-paced techno-bomb like the original, however the drums have a more aggressive feeling to them. Secondly there is the Voices of Valley remix of Judgement, which features the Greek duo’s unique style. The breakdown is where the duo really deliver something unique, huge emotional value leading up to a magnificent climax. The last remix of the EP is delivered by Altego on the track Vandal. It’s a hypnotic emotional track which relies on the main synth to lead the listener through its story. Well structured drums make sure that the track will stand its ground on the dancefloor and beyond.'

There must be something in the water in Luzern, the town that label regular Khainz calls home. The Swiss producer has been churning out tremendous, polished dancefloor bombs for over a decade, and this effort has culminated in his third studio album and first since 2012: Fingerprint. If you’ve heard Khainz’s music, you know his tracks are equal parts heavy groove and brilliant sound design. Fingerprint shows the scope of Khainz’s skills with track after track of heavy, club-focused composition that flirts with both delicate, beautiful melodies and savage techno sounds. In a world where many believe that the dance music album is increasingly irrelevant, Khainz proves the contrary with a stunning body of work that sounds like much more than just a collection of tracks. 

The album opens with “Next”, an ominous builder that displays Khainz’s pension for melodic sonic journeys. It’s a powerful start to the record, and the energy builds as we continue into “Tilted Towers”, a heavy techno roller precision crafted for peak moments. The album continues with the beautiful “Reflect”’ then turns again to the dark side with “Dawn Raid”, a heavy collaboration with Suspect One that sounds like sleek, modern techno with classic rave sensibility. The thundering grooves continue with “Reconnect” before giving way to “Pollux”, a master class in melodic techno with its intense, swirling arpeggios. The album’s title track is like a summary of all the sounds on the album, combining the best of Khainz’s production techniques into one bite-size portion. As we get into the tail end of Fingerprint, “Fair Trade” (a collaboration with Jack & Juus) keeps the high energy going, and “Watch Your Step” takes it up a notch with its glistening acid riffs and pumping groove. The album wraps up with “Frequent Avenue”, another Jack & Juus collab that recycles some of the melodic motifs from the album, a rewarding finish for anyone who takes the time to listen to Fingerprint straight through. 

Fingerprint is the summation of years of practice and dedication. It’s near-incomprehensibly consistent, each track sounding enough like the others to flow like an album, but not enough that the music becomes monotonous. It functions like an album should, with each track complementing the sequence and creating something more than the sum of its parts. This is Khainz at his finest, and the title reflects that – it’s his musical fingerprint.

Girona native Moises Caparros, better known as TH Moy, returns to Alpha Black with “Mio Destino”. For catalogue number 004 TH Moy drags us into a deep sonorous landscape that will engulf in our emotions.

From slow to fast, attesting to TH Moy's versatility in making music for every moment. From delicate sounds and melodies to an energetic rolling bass and evolving basslines, Moises can encompass any emotional state. 

Kicking off with "Balankula", an ever-evolving melodic state, accompanied by ethnic voices and beat that enhance the landscape of a magical place. The shadow of Gaia reveals itself, with the sweet scent of lavender.

With Mio Destino, we are given two editions. The original and the club edit. A tense voice and hypnotic melody-bass combination in the original. A deep atmosphere with various textures which are emotionally paired with the voices and soft melodies in the club edit. Both versions, although different, bring us into the tough decision of choosing a labyrinth. The children will need to enter to continue the chase, but in doing so will need to make tough decisions.

Urano extends the increase in energy. With an ongoing arp and a rolling bass that continuously evolves, occasional chords and melodies that give a sign of relief. The key has been chosen.

The door opens to the sound of Tenderete. Opening tense arps, a fast-rolling bass, a vicious melodic bassline. The wolfs show their teeth, they show their grit as the children will have to enter the new maze. The high energy of tenderness leave us with the setting to be faced, but full of faith and warrior instinct.

In every collective celebration, there is an extraphysical energy field created from the thoughts and feelings emanated from the participants. When a considerable number of minds and bodies are focused on a single goal, it is possible to gather a large amount of energy and through it make changes. This collective power is the theme of 'Cosmic Arena', the new EP signed by deGust, composed of three tracks that show all his versatility and genius.

The first track, 'Suspended in a Sunbeam', has a constant dialogue between kick and off-beat bass. On this solid basis, deGust explores plucks sounds recorded in the Minilogue, which are present throughout the song, giving a serious aspect of the track and that, combined with the melody, give us the feeling of bright sunrise.

In 'Mote of Dust', deGust once again explores the power of the Minilogue on a hypnotic journey. A pair of synths intersect without ever meeting, creating a constant tension. LFO's in the pitch make the final part of the notes slide, generating hypnosis and creating a deformity in what would be the most common.

The title track of the EP, 'Cosmic Arena', has a euphoric atmosphere that presents itself at the beginning, progressively developing until an epic break, with orchestrated pads serving as a backdrop for the vocal performed by deGust. The lyrics were inspired by an excerpt from the book 'Pale Blue Dot', by Carl Sagan, and talks about an image of the Earth taken by Voyager I on February 14th, 1990, bringing awareness of the magnitude of the whole, while making us remember how we are energy powers when brought together. A track that will undoubtedly be played at many festivals!
