Outward I Look (To the Sea)[demo]

This is track that I have been working on which is inspired the landscape of the Scottish West coast. In Scotland, we call the mist and cloud that hovers over the coast, "Haar".  This often burns away as the day goes on, but none-the-less, brings about a cool and refreshing feel in the morning. I've called it a demo, as I'm still undecided about the structure and whether to isolate single textures and build up the piece more gradually.  I also need to get professionally mixed! Hope you enjoy :)

I nearly called it "Random" but I've tried my best to make the piece flow in some way. I just enjoyed going outside my creative comfort zone and try something new.

Spring - Part 1

I tried to make a piece that evoked the nature of Spring, but also the power of nature and the process of renewal (regenesis) during the season. I found it very difficult to mix but hopefully it gives an idea of what I was going for. It's Spring now :)

City Asleep

I put music to my experiences of watching sunrises across cities. The middle section is meant to contrast with the opening and finishing sections, and meant to represent the quiet awakening of a suburban morning compared to large cityscapes like Chicago or New York. The section is not meant to sound to eery. Hopefully you enjoy :) 

City Sunrise

Lucky enough to travel to some cool cities as a musician, New York, Austin TX, Chicago, Paris. This is the music that comes to mind when exploring these cities. I nearly called the track 'City Timelapse' but I liked the idea of the title being quite plain so the listener can immerse themselves in their own experience of walking/exploring a city. Hope you enjoy :)

City Walking

I could have called it 'daydreaming' or 'watching sunset' but thought that might be a bit cheesy. So I chose this title instead - it so happens the title gives a cheeky nod to a certain Brian Eno. Hope you enjoy and thanks for listening.

I think this song is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard to this day. I really wanted to put my own take on it, not because I thought it could be better, but I thought the melody lends itself to an arrangement.

Hope There's Someone - Anohni & The Johnsons Cover

December has become a bit of a dark period remembering people I've lost so the composition reflects the melancholy while also reflecting the great memories I had with them (so not all gloomy). First time I've composed something with/for cello and violin using software instruments - so hopefully one day with real instruments. Happy 2025!
