87FEI87 Presents: Noise&Noise “Posthumanism”

"HUMANS ARE THE SEX ORGANS OF TECHNOLOGY," Noise&Noise says, quoting one of the inspirations behind his music, Kevin Kelly.

Noise&Noise is China’s artist equivalent of Ray Kurzweil, its musical Donna Haraway, and one of our planet’s last philosophers of the synthesizer. In his world, we humans have already lost our sovereignty to the machines. We are no longer capable of free will. 
Perhaps that’s one reason 87非87 chose to offer its third EP release to the mad scientist Noise&Noise: the machines told us to.

Or, alternatively, we saw the genius in his cyborgian vision. Noise&Noise is already a living legend in the global old-school electro scene, boasting releases on seminal labels from Japan to the United States and beyond.

For the EP “Posthumanism” on 87非87, five tracks of mind-melting sound narcotics seethe and bubble, unveiling a dark universe overseen by something greater than our petty, loathsome human biology.

Androids, borgs, cyberpunks, and misanthropes: we call you!

Be good little sex organs and come celebrate the truth…

Limited-edition cassettes, including remixes by @Zalivad, @Floood, and Nous, will be unleashed Friday, Nov. 29, at DADA Beijing.

Phil got his first pair of turntables in 2001 and has been passionately collecting records and DJing ever since. His first residency came at the age of 17 for deep house night ‘No Shanti’ in York followed by a residency at ‘Howdoyoudo?’ along with many guest slots around the city. During his time in Nottingham he started his own event ‘Sherbert’ at the infamous ‘Moog’ pub before founding ‘Subterranea' in 2013 - ten years later Phil remains resident DJ and co-promoter. 

In 2022 Phil joined the team at The Imaginarium and opened Plant & Deck, Leeds’ only house plant and record shop. The shop specialises in house plants of all varieties and left-field leaning electronic music from ambient and electronica through house, techno, electro and breaks. Green fingers aside this allows him the opportunity to tip the city’s vinyl diggers by drawing upon his extensive knowledge of, and passion for, electronic music.

In over 20 years of DJing at, and throwing, parties he has warmed up and closed for countless DJs including Radioactive Man, Conforce & Versalife, Surgeon, Jamie Anderson, Trevino, Neville Watson and Alex Smoke to name just a few. Playing exclusively on vinyl, Phil is an accomplished DJ in his own right with shelves and shelves of records fit for any dancefloor. For the modulations mix series he has dug out an hour of spaced out electro wobblers, the majority of which are available at Plant & Deck.

The next premiere for @DarkScienceElectro comes to us from an artist that needs no introduction unless you've been living under a rock for the last 10 years.

@The-Exaltics hail from Germany and have been consistently putting out quality Electro/Techno since 2007. Following the success of their recent 'Das Heise Experiment' LP, The Exaltics lend their power to the Italian label @FU-ME-Rec - For this various artist compilation they bring on Faceless Mind (@asa0asd90i4rfdas), @Umwelt-music, The Exaltics and label curator @DJ_Vietnam featuring @tha_haterparisi - The track selected to premiere for @DarkScienceElectro is the Exaltics track entitled 'Parallel Worlds'. This track stood out to me with it's gorgeous melody driven mostly by use of sweeping pad synths and a throbbing bass line that is reminiscent of The Exaltics work with Gerald Donald on the aforementioned 'Das Heise Experiment' project (https://soundcloud.com/the-exaltics/soundcloud)- I must admit that all of the tracks on this release are worth the coin. The vinyl will be released at the end of November.

John met Roland in a pub car park in Leeds.  On that very same day, they proceeded to rip Scarborough a new one.

Since then they have gone on to moan about all kinds of stuff, and in Roland’s case, spill vodka on things that don’t belong to him.  Musically they both like breakbeats, wobbly basslines and everything in and around and in-between.

Craig Stainton is a producer with serious underground credentials, releasing as Mantra on Bunker Records and Myriadd on Creme Organisation, his works have graced many other respected labels including Djax-Up Beats, Solar One Music, Pinkman, Boe Recordings, Gnosis, ProForm Series and Abstract Acid over the course of the past decade.

Now part of the Polybius Trax roster of artists, he continues to produce music that evokes the classic house sound of Chicago from his base in Barcelona, remoulding the template of vintage acid and deep house into his vision of modern house music. As part of his live set, expect to hear atmospheric tones, bubbling acid lines and jacking rhythm tracks, all dedicated to keeping the true spirit of Acid House alive.

MOD.30 - Modulations Live - CYBEREIGN (live set)

Modulations is back — with a new musical direction.

In this next chapter, the podcast will focus mainly on live performances from electronic music artists who embrace a DIY approach to creativity — many of whom perform at EMOM and similar grassroots events.

Over the past few years, I’ve been attending various EMOM (Electronic Music Open Mic) events across the north of England. It’s at these gatherings that I’ve discovered some incredible talent — from both familiar and often unknown artists. This includes close friends, whom I’ve had the pleasure of watching take to the stage and perform for the very first time. The whole experience has been inspiring — and eye (or ear) opening, to say the least.
