The sounds of The Soul Brothers are influenced by the middle eastern and latin american culture, often a fusion middle eastern instruments and natural sounds of Mexico. 
 
The Mexican duo consisting of Daniel Muñoz and Tomás Encorrada is also behind the label Talavera Records. Besides releases on their own imprint their originals and remixes have been brought out by the likes of Souq Records, Dream Culture or Lump Records.

3 QUESTIONS to DARLYN VLYS:

Q: Talking about your mix. What did these tracks mean to you in the past and would you still play them today?

A: Most of this selection have been choosen respecting the periods who left me a musically speaking mark (print) but also the tracks that I discovered when I'm dancing or playing in club regarding my set preparation, I tried to create a puzzle of style of music without being influenced by the trends, travelling between the Techno crossed with the Disco or the music played today. For sure at the earliest opportunity I still play most of these tracks. 

Q: You´re a french guy travelling the world. Where´s you´re favorite spot?

A: I really enjoyed playing in India, I love this culture and the people are so grateful, but if I have to choose one city, Hamburg will be my favorite. The ambiance and the crowd there always surprise me.

Q: Which future projects are on the way?

A: Well, this year gonna be very special for me. I will release my first album on Sincopat. I was working on it during the past year and a half, this time I wanted to transmit other vibes leaving my existing comfort zone. At the same time I am preparing two Ep on Sodai and Noir music.

Who is Agha?

Agha, a union between Middle Eastern rhythms and German techno culture, born in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where his true dreamy desert soul comes in. He then lived in Europe where he diverted his interest into raw sounds and classical music. After 10 years of mixing, collecting and following, he returns to Lebanon, where art, design and music reflect what he truly believes in. His sound is an experience and a mixture of his past and present, the peace and the war, the chaos and the nature. Today, he is a fusion of sounds and experiences that will take you on a melodic rhythmic journey.

We are so excited to have one of our super talented friends, the adventurous Elif with us with our 33rd podcast. She has put together a great mix with a great back story: 

"When Deep House Vancouver asked me to do a podcast I was so excited because it's been a while since i prepared a podcast and i realized how much i missed it! 
I have been posting my sets from DJ gigs but no podcasts lately. In a gig, the DJ picks up vibes from the crowd and it almost becomes a collaboration between the DJ and the crowd. When it's a podcast or a mixtape there's no crowd present, so the DJ needs to set an almost imaginary vibe and take people on a journey. The listeners don't have a saying in this one, not directly or simultaneously at least. No interaction, they turn on the music wherever they are and just surrender to it and let it take them from wherever they are to whatever vibe the DJ imagined and i think that's a different and special kind of connection, almost like time travel and telepathy. 
I love music so much and my love goes beyond genres and bpms. I wasn't even sure what kind of tone i wanted to set for my DHV podcast. I started picking tracks without paying attention to bpm or the energy. Just tracks that make me feel something and that i want to share and tell a story with. 
After getting more into the prep of the podcast my heart went for a more downtempo and chill vibe with melodic elements and soothing vocals. I love playing darker and proggy vibez at gigs and i realized i was looking forward to setting an more relaxed mood. Maybe that was what i needed myself. I was even feeling a bit uneasy these days and preparing this podcast was an emotional release for me. 
I love listening to podcasts like this at home chilling after a night out or a busy work day. Whatever it is, it’s a change of mood, a relaxation a surrender. I hope you enjoy this one with similar warm and easy emotions."

A Monday like no other... After 9 hours wait to enter, we cruised the playa for the first time, we joined our Gardens of Babylon family for their welcoming party in Bang Bang, with so many familiar faces and friends, we directly felt at home! 
We then hoped on Maxa Camp's magical Deer art car, and drove toward Bang Bang, all of a sudden the party became a moving party, so many colourful bikes were following, we were completely mesmerized, it was the first time we played for a moving dancefloor! Until we reached the playa and then the crowd just didn't stop getting more colourful, more lights, more vibe. It literally was out of this world.

There are many legends of Elfenberg but there is only one DJ duo I could possibly be referring to announcing today’s Schirmchendrink bartenders: 

Mystic drums, euphoric rhythms and moving melodies – this is the unmistakable signature of the Stockholm-based DJ duo, consisting of Viktor Elfqvist and Hernik Malmberg, which has become indispensable on today’s dancefloors around the globe.

Viktor and Henrik are both born and raised in the suburbs of Stockholm, where they’ve been capturing vibrant folkloric sounds from early age.

Their debut EP on Lump records hit the ground running right away and is still creating waves in the scene. Further releases on labels such as Stil vor Talent, 3000 Grad or Serafin followed shortly. And it has just been two days since their latest release: the “Tanzanite & Loma” EP has been released on MoBlack Records, known for their tribal infused gems.

Originally a child of reggae, Bonjour Ben started DJing in his early twenties. With the help of the tight DJ community, he has established his organic sound has become a staple of the organic and intercultural house scene, including appearances in Berlin (Watergate, About Blank, Sisyphos, katerblau), Amsterdam, Zürich, London, Sao Paulo, NYC, Cape Town and more...

Ben aproach is hypnotic, he embarks us gently but surely in his dreamy universe. He is very creative and delicate. It has been a while since we last posted a podcast. The past months we wanted to focus on the journey inward. It has not been an easy time for any of us and so we decided to honour and cherish the music what we already have. It gave us a quiet mind and a steady focus to send our Babylon Record Label further into space. 

But.. With the arrival of February 2021 it is time to spread the music again.. Time to dance carelessly in the comfort of our homes. Through the music we will hold on to our hopes and dreams. And now that we are slowly approaching spring hopes and dreams are exactly what we need. 

Welcome to the very first podcast of our new Family series. We are SURE it will bring you love and light in this ongoing battle of staying hopeful.
