I am very proud to present you Tronic's 500th release. When I started the label close to 30 years ago, I never thought that it would reach such a milestone. There have been many highs and lows, but what kept us going was the true passion for honest house and techno and always trying to push forward! This release features three of my tracks as well as a remix from techno OG Joey Beltram. With the comeback of his moniker, Polyvinyl, UMEK goes back to his hardgroove origins. In addition, he is starting a new record label called 1605 GrooveSector, which will specialise in raw techno and hardgroove.

Slovenian-born UMEK has a career that dates back to the 1990s, when he was among the musicians that helped create and pioneer the first hardgroove movement. His iconic Recycled Loops project produced a number of groundbreaking songs that shaped the modern genre.

UMEK’s music has changed throughout the course of his three-decade career to reflect contemporary styles, and he has continued to be one of the most significant techno artists. His career is coming full circle with the return of the Polyvinyl pseudonym, and he is once again embracing the improvisational production style that once brought him international recognition.

For this DT:Premiere we selected the title track “Mechanically Intensive” with a rolling bassline and filtered percussion. Jerking synth stabs are added to boost the offbeat energy, but it’s the timeless, tribal and schranz-like rhythms that create the throwback, dance floor burning sound.

Autofreak is a dark and driving electro-techno track originally released in 2001 produced by John Selway under his Semblance Factor alias. Selway brought out this track from the archives for a remix challenge on his Techno Saturdays livestream & feedback session with Christian Smith. We picked the top three electro and top three techno remixes from the challenge submissions to feature on this release. From dark rolling hypnotic grooves to sharp edged machine funk, all six mixes make up a strong and varied collection of new takes on Selways underground classic.

The boys continue with the second instalment of their &#8220;Duckman&#8221; EP and the opening track fires at all cylinders with its rubber-band bassline and skippy drums. The percussion-laden groove and subtle stabs, make just enough rumble to let the classy effects shine through.

On the Amo &amp; Navas remix of &#8220;Hawkman&#8221; the duo deliver a bass-heavy interpretation based on a sweetly distorted groove while adding a slash of epicness to the breakdown, giving us a breather from the edit-heavy rhythm section.
