Every great album needs a solid remix EP! That’s what Niconé thought to himself after the recent release of his critically acclaimed ‘Let Love Begin’ longplayer. Thus he invited friends and artists he admires alike to reinterpret some of the highlights of the album. The results are as versatile as they are stunning.	 

Big-room piano work-out ‘Burnhain’ gets the treatment by three heavyweights of the scene. England’s Ejeca has been causing quite a stir with his signature mix of classic Jersey house and UK bass elements. Here, he turns in a tasteful mix of high-pitched vocals, which focuses on dub chords rather than the original’s piano melody. Teenage Mutants opts for the no nonsense approach as he delivers a straight house banger of driving hats and a bass-line to die for, while Mat.Joe chop up the piano hook and loop it over a new percussive skeleton. 	

SIS’s remix of ‘Querido’ is an epic twelve minute long journey that takes the original’s vocals into darker, drugged-out territories. Psychedelic! Similarly, Gunjah goes all out on his dramatic synth interpretation of ‘Let Love Begin’, which seems made with Ibiza closing parties in mind. Rampue’s version of ‘Candelaria’ is, in contrast, crafted for dark winter days as lots of melancholia runs through the veins of the track. Of course, Niconé was keen to turn in a remix himself and enlisted his good friend Philip Bader to give him a hand. The resulting reinterpretation of ‘Candelaria’ is an out-and-out tech house monster made for the peaktime.

Inspired by Strafe’s 1984 electro funk classic on the same name and spanning everything from retro-synths to techy elements the track is a true illustration of their wide musical compass, with an organic sounding guitar reflecting their early roots in punk music. Never ones to rest on their laurels, this cut is a further string to their evermore impressive bow, coming as it does at the tail end of Tuber & Berger’s most triumphant year to date with a momentum they will unquestionably carry on into the next.

Paride Saraceni brings his distinctive sound design in Agile Recordings with his debut release Keep Focus. Lead title Keep focus is a track that will rock muscles with its roaring bass and well constructed drums, whistling away tightly. Accelerating synth stabs filtering in and out building up a nice beat continuum to which you will happily surrender. A genuine crowd-pleasure of a track! 
In Killergroove a playful chord stab melody forms the core of the matter weaving in and out with bass repeating distorted male voice with a heavenly addition of hi hats, all swinging gracefully before the track drops back in and out again. A modern nomad who has travelled the continents with his music, Nu is as diverse in his musical styles as he is well-travelled.

Taking influences from his various homes, such as Switzerland, Germany, or Peru, the producer and trained sound engineer branched out into various genres (deep house, hip hop, trip-hop, ambient, experimental, dance, and even film and dance theatre music composition). Through this years-long musical journey, Nu then found his true calling: instrumentals amalgamated with his electronic production, all held together through solid rhythms.

Nuʼs music has a strong emphasis on live performance. He fuses clean-cut minimal techno with the raw sounds of his analogue synthesis and his self-made instruments. He works with anything from self-recorded samples over drum and synthesizer machines to multi-touch screen controllers.

Riva Starr arrives with his new EP Freedom in true Riva style, with each of the three tracks sampling tastes from three different flavours of music. Released on June 29th, Freedom provides a varied musical experience and a vibe that changes from track to track. The first collaboration on the EP is with Ramon Tapia, whose musical mission is to make people move. Freedom is definitely a groover, mixing up a steady beat with trumpets and steel drums, reflecting the exciting sounds of Brazilian carnivals. In the final collaboration with Dolomite, Be Your Best slows down the tempo with some old-skool beats. Super catchy and a definite stand-out track. Freedom is loaded with new ideas, fresh experiments and unexpected collaborations, each one a reminder of Rivas consistent curiosity and unpredictable style.

For some time now the Bar25 label has wanted to put out a release with all of our Swiss musician friends - the many folks who came to the Swiss Weekends at the Bar and generally made a habit of visiting us in Berlin. The Bar always had a deep Swiss connection, manifested not least in the legendary Swiss Cabin, home away from home to larger groups of visiting friends and Monday evening after-hour hotspot. "Alpenglühen - Feines aus der Schweiz" (Alp Glow - Swiss Bliss) is a swanky double vinyl of high-quality production art made in Switzerland. On vinyl 1, Animal Trainer from Hive Audio share a side with Andri, the Zurich native who is famous for his energetic live set's. Techno gladiator Wandler and live artist Canson play the other side, while vinyl 2 lets two matadors from the new Zurich club Frieda's Büxe - Don Ramon and San Marco - steer for a while. And the two music geniuses from Galoppierende Zuversicht are also here, fittingly, using sounds recorded live at Frieda's Büxe for their track. The sampler concludes with the exceptionally talented Mastra, who contributed a special song to this Swiss musical collage. The digital release also comes with a bonus live track by sublime stage band Rizzoknor. Even the cover was designed in Switzerland, during a Bar25 night at the legendary Cabaret in Zurich. We're all excited about this release since it's a special one for the 25 label. Marked both by good old times and new horizons, this record is a musical compilation representing the very special kind of artist that will always be welcome in wild Berlin!
