With the irresistible force of his recent contributions to the label still reverberating strongly throughout all parts of techno and beyond, Drumcode welcome back Ben Sims for another inspirational and incendiary EP of his trademark grooves. Beginning where Ben’s ‘Smoke & Mirrors’ album left off, Air Rage EP has Sims on serious underground form; laying down punishing party grooves of abrasive, rolling rhythms while making space for splashes of full-force funk and enchanting melodic moments. Sims’ intuitively daring use of these contrasting energies is the source of this EPs intoxicating appeal with examples evident within all four tracks. Whether it is the looping robotic bleeps on The Parade; the funked-up electro stomp of Air Rage; the otherworldly strings in Move In Time or the harmonic bell chimes within Machine Funk.

Presented as a three-track EP, Slam’s latest body of work for Drumcode covers a range of styles, drawing on their vast experience of the multi-colored nature of techno. Vespula, with its resolute groove and low, humming bass works the speakers hardest, while synth stabs, dramatic drawn out chords and a distinctive two-tone hook add contrast. Resume puts musicality to the fore by creating a melodic ride that flows from an undulating bass line and a soaring synth line whilst retaining a strong percussive energy. Metus beats out a slow burning but impactful groove that swings between an intricate, multi-layered arrangement of wigged out atmospherics and industrial clunks and clanks. Marius Vatne aka Marius V is from Trondheim, Norway. Being a fan of the club music scene for many years, he started to experience with the art of mixing of his own which instantly proved others he's got a talent in it. He loves to play modern, groovy and balanced techno with deep bass lines in company with dark melodies and breathtaking vocals. Marius V made his debut in May 2019 playing on Næverland 2 which is a open air event in the forest around the city of Trondheim. This month we welcome him to be our guest for Vibes Sessions. Marius V is a quick learning artist. Expect from him heart, soul and energy behind the decks.

A mix of creativity, ingenuity, and intensity are the key components to create the fascinating Techno of the "The Reason Y” and although 2015 marked the beginning of this new project from Frederik Laaser, The Reason Y has, in a short time created a heavy buzz with his mind-blowing music, high energy gigs and a top notch event ’TRY Land’. 

“Feeling the vibe and connecting with the audience is what keeps me going. Those magic moments created by Techno is the primary reason I am here doing this". 

Frederik was born in the northern part of Germany and grew up in the city of Schwerin where he decided to spend all his time and money buying vinyl and honing his mixing skills before finishing High School and moving to Berlin.

Field Vibes

Wie erklärt man einem Menschen der noch nie getrunken hat, einen Alkohol induzierten Vollrausch? Könntest du jemandem der noch nie Erdbeeren gegessen hat, den Geschmack dieser Frucht in Worten begreiflich machen?
Ob man nun eine der eben genannten oder eine äquivalente Analogie heranzieht, das Prinzip bleibt das gleiche. Manche Dinge muss man selbst erleben bzw. erfahren, um sie in Gänze zu verstehen.
Das gilt auch für die Field Vibes.
Dennoch, ich werde versuchen Euch den Charme des Feldes begreiflich zu machen und wer sich davon angesprochen fühlt, probiert es vielleicht selbst einmal aus. 
Schon während man die schlecht ausgebaute Straße ins Feld hinein fährt, beginnt dieses leichte Kribbeln in den Fingerspitzen. Wahrscheinlich ist es die Vorfreude auf das kommende oder die Anspannung des Tages, die Stück für Stück von einem abfällt und sich in Form eines kleinen Energieschubs bemerkbar macht. Häufig ist das Feld bzw. der Feldweg gut besucht. Im Sommer und in größerer Runde sitzt oder steht man die meiste Zeit im Feld selbst, im kleineren Kreis verbringt man seine Stunden im Auto. So oder so lässt man die Eule kreisen, trinkt eventuell ein Bier oder auch einen Milchshake. Auch ein vier Augengespräch im Felde erwies sich des Öfteren als angenehm klärend oder auch äußert produktiv.  
Im Feld kann und wird über alles geredet und gelacht. Des Nachts vervollständigt ein wunderschöner Sternenhimmel die Atmosphäre, bei Tag lässt man relaxt seinen Blick in die Ferne schweifen. Was genau die Magie des Feldes im Kern ausmacht, vermag ich selbst als jahrelanger Stammgast, nicht abschließend zu sagen. Ich vermute es ist wie "immer" die goldene Mischung aus Land, Leute & Beschäftigung. 

Rachel Raw ist die talentierte und fähige Köchin hinter dem heutigen "Musikgericht". Eine angenehm heitere und energetisierende Note ist ihre Geheimzutat. Uns schmeckt es heute ganz besonders, möchtest Du auch mal probieren?
