Sound Process - Collided

Uto&#8217;s latest outing on his own Agile Recordings kicks off with an ultra-sensual rhythm section before letting the sly bassline set the tone and the quirky percussion intertwine with discordant synths and vocal snippets.&nbsp; On the first rework of &#8220;Reflective&#8221;, we have none other than the mighty Dosem who fattens things up, mangles the original&#8217;s vocal edits and then adds his trademarked melodic chords for a more nostalgic feel. Closing up, Paride Saraceni&#8217;s percussion-led version of the same track boasts commanding stabs, while the rubber-band bass holds everything together in style.

Paride Saraceni is back on Agile and gets straight to the point with &#8220;Skyline&#8221;, where we find him rolling out the percussion and bringing in classy, evolving synths over a rocksteady drumset.&nbsp; The optimistic vibe of &#8220;West Village&#8221; is up next, letting a rubber-band bassline take control, while persistent stabs keep the momentum going and hypnotic electronics grind away in the background.

Not as self aggrandizing as the London scene or as outwardly flamboyant as Manchester’s notoriously underground musical movement, Leeds is all too often Britain’s forgotten city when people are evaluating UK talent and we think that’s a massive shame as it’s discreetly a hotbed of creativity.

Boasting a long and illustrious past, the latest name to come off of the Yorkshire city's conveyor belt of talent is Josh Butler, a man dedicated to dance in more ways than one. One of the new school of the UK house scene we’ve been fans of Josh for a while now, having first featured him on Data Transmission back at the very start of 2013 when he served up a particularly groovy edition of the DT podcast.

Since then Mr. Butler has gone on to forge a fierce reputation in the studio as well as the DJ booth, garnering an international following as fans and critics fall over themselves to tip as as one of the hottest up and coming producers in the game today.

Having already impressed on the likes of Cajual, Skint VIVA and Lost Butler is now about to land on Sante's vaunted Avotre imprint for the release of his new 'Snake Skin' EP. Aimed squarely at the dance floor, the three tracker looks sure to get people thawing out those boogying muscles upon its release this September as Josh showcases just what tech-house can be when the right producer puts his mind to it. Meaty, groovy and dubby in equal measure, this is an EP certainly not to be slept on.

Longevity for the most part, is not something that's usually associated with electronic music, a genre that moves so fast and often leaves those who stop to pause for breadth in its wake. The very best of course, adapt to the changing soundscape, with those that maintain subtle and dedicated agendas usually the same ones that last the pace. Such is the case with Leipzig label Moon Harbour, an imprint that's treated us to a host of veritable house gems over the years whilst still maintaining a firm, underground aesthetic.

Having recently turned fifteen, head honcho Matthias Tanzmann gave us some insight into the enduring appeal of his outlet, explaining that it’s the family vibe they enjoy within the label that keeps thing fresh. “I was still pretty young when we started the label in 2000, so we have all grown up together for 15 years now.  Moon Harbour is like my child. I am happy many artists joined the family or became good friends and that the label has become a home for all of us.”

It's this sense of family that shines through on Moon Harbour's new compilation, 15 Years Of Moon Harbour, which comprised of 13 tracks from artists both new and old offers efforts from the likes of Gregor Tresher, Daniel Stefanik, Luna City Express and label boss Tanzamann himself.

Our Debut Transmission today however comes from  Steve Bug. Needing no introduction, the Poker Flat founder has been a key player for the label over the past decade and a half and opens the compilation in style with fresh cut 'Lifting The Anchor'. Classic 'Bug' fare, it's guaranteed to get you thawing out those boogying muscles.

Mastiv makes his Agile debut by demonstrating his effortless style and impeccable skills in all three of the cuts.&nbsp; The title track is up first and sets the tone perfectly with a sleazy bassline, commanding stabs and soaring synths.&nbsp; &#8220;Dr. Dachno&#8221; picks up in the same vein, led by the driving bass, while electronics are graciously sprinkled on top of the crystal-clear production.&nbsp; Closing up with &#8220;Schmutz&#8221;, we are introduced to a discordant vibe as warped synthesis takes center stage and otherworldly effects propel the affair to the next level.

Lewis returns to Agile, and the title track of the EP clearly shows his tendencies with haunting melodies taking center stage and the rhythm section effortlessly grinding away.&nbsp; The subliminal vibe continues on &#8220;Analyze&#8221;, yet the momentum is kicked up a notch for maximum effect while mangled vocal snippets are interlocked with the drums, and spacious effects lace the whole affair with class.

Devid and Luca team up for two juicy tracks, and &#8220;Elephant&#8221; is up first with its sticky bassline and grinding rhythm section.&nbsp; The focus shifts to the haunting stabs and the affair is completed by otherworldly effects working away subliminally.&nbsp; 
&#8220;Memory&#8221; takes a slightly different route as manic chords provide the momentum, and the bubbling bass intertwines with the looped-out vocal snippets in the background.
