Im Jahr 1999 traf Marco, in einem Club in Madrid, Carlos Ruiz und gab ihm ein Tape mit 3 Songs die er unter dem Namen DIOXYDE schrieb. Carlos war beeindruckt und wenig später trat er der Band bei, half bei der Produktion und unterstützte Marco als Livekeyboarder bei den Shows.

Johan van Roy entdeckte die Band im Jahr 2000 und bot ihnen sofort einen Beitrag auf dem "deCODEr" Sampler, erschienen auf einem kleinen Tape/CD Label namens COde, welches Johan kurz zuvor gründete, an.

2002 unterschrieb DIOXYDE bei dem deutschen Label Dying Culture, welches DIOXYDE's Debütalbum "Torschlüsspanik" veröffentlichte. Das Album erhielt eine sehr gute Reaktion beim Publikum und den Medien, mit einer sehr hohen Bewertung in den Reviews der bedeutendsten Magazine und Webzines der Elektroszene und war sehr schnell ausverkauft.

Ende 2003 verließ Carlos die Band und wurde von Koke [Jorge Bibiano] ersetzt.


Anfang 2004 löste sich Dying Culture auf und während Marco in Gesprächen mit verschiedenen Labels war, um sein zweites Album zu releasen, verunglückte er bei einem schweren Motoradunfall, durch den er mehrere Monate im Krankenhaus lag. Drei Wochen zuvor spielte DIOXYDE auf dem Wave-Gotik-Treffen zum ersten Mal in Deutschland. Marco brauchte mehrere Monate um sich von dem Unfall zu erholen. Selbst heute wartet er noch auf eine Schulteroperation. Aber Marco ist nun endgültig aus der Hölle zurück und beweist dieses mit seinem lang erwarteten zweiten Album "Social Phobia"!
