With open-hearted songwriting and a voice that recalls sorrow reconciling with hope, Kate Tucker’s music reflects the chiaroscuro of life with compelling honesty and strength. Unafraid to share her own experiences with loss, her confessions carry a light that burns softly throughout her songs. They follow a throughline of healing, a way to exist in spite of suffering. Before it begins to weigh heavy, Tucker throws down a shiny pop pain reliever, or a call-to-action anthem when the time to speak is now. And so we have Singles Club, a series of songs full of life and energy that couldn’t be more perfectly timed. Beginning with “A Little Bit of Love,” in April, a new single will drop each month, leading up to the EP at the end of summer.
Singles Club features songs written and produced by Tucker and Gregory Lattimer (Albert Hammond Jr, The Strokes), recorded in Lattimer’s Nashville studio, with the exception of “Real Love” written by Tucker, Grammy-nominated Alissa Moreno (Tucker’s co-founding partner in BAAM Collective), and Evan Coffman, who produced and recorded the track at Starstruck.
Out of a passion for collaboration, Tucker has built a large body of work spanning genre and modality, with an ever growing cast of characters. Her main squeeze has always been Kate Tucker and the Sons of Sweden, Seattle indie rock darlings who recorded their shimmering debut with Ryan Hadlock (The Lumineers, Metric) producing and Damien Jurado on guest vocals. They followed that with the release of The Shape The Color The Feel visual album which included 13 music videos, 2 short films, an art exhibition, and a forthcoming documentary, featuring collaborations with Matthew Perryman Jones, SHEL and Jessie English, among others.
Tucker paired up with Ross Flournoy (Apex Manor, The Broken West) to make the sparkling eighties-infused pop duo Little Reader, whose debut was produced by Mark Watrous of The Shins, and now, she and guitar phenom Sinclair are recording their soon-to-be-released world dance project, Cheetah Pants. In 2018, Tucker joined all-woman super group Band Of Their Own, which includes members of Belly, Veruca Salt, Letters to Cleo, and The Bangles.
A self-taught musician, Tucker spent days rewinding VHS tapes of The Cranberries on MTV Unplugged to learn chords on a guitar her godfather built for her. By age 16, she could play their entire live set and was ready to write songs of her own. Between Cranberries, Mazzy Star and Radiohead, she developed a sparse, yet intentional approach to her guitar work, with repetitive arpeggiated patterns and heavy swirling rhythm.
Growing up in a family of truck drivers, Tucker became acquainted with the American road from an early age. A sense of place, space, home, and the vast unknown continues to inform her work in both mood and lyric. Perhaps this frequent travel set in motion what would become her own musical journey, cutting her teeth in Akron rock clubs, moving to France to busk in the streets of Paris, setting off for Seattle to start a band, only to hit the road again for NYC to finally land in Nashville, Tennessee.
In the midst of this, she’s garnered a devoted fan base grassroots style, releasing everything on her own independent label, Red Valise. Her songs have charted college and commercial radio, and landed spots on numerous TV shows, feature films, and compilations. She’s toured extensively, with appearances at Bumbershoot, SXSW and Bonnaroo. In 2014, she made her acting debut with a lead role in the feature film Everything Went Down, which took Tucker to the stage of various film festivals including Stony Brook, Toronto and Sundance.
Kate Tucker is currently in Nashville writing for her new record, and directing the documentary Comeback Evolution, on the life and work of artist Walter Delbridge. Her full length LP and the film are both set for release in 2021.

Although born in Sydney, and living primarily in Ireland, in later years, I also spent five years living in the beautiful South Western Australia from 2013 to 2018 before landing back in Dublin Town. 

Meanwhile, it's late 2022, and like everyone, I guess, I’m in the post-pandemic what-the-hell-do-we-do-now box. Although I've kept a low profile, I’ve been writing and developing new songs. Magic is real and flowers bloom in their own time, so hopefully, there will be results - in the form of my 6th album - soon 🤞
