A small spirit is lured by the vibrant sounds of an archaic ritual, that takes place where once a great deluge cleared the lands. Drudging over and under layers of ancient roots and sunken treetops it makes its way through the thick undergrowth. Its primordial senses pick up intoxicating gases that seep upward while nearby bare feet get sucked rhythmically into the soft wet grounds of a great Quagmire. The sound of thick skinned drums being beaten by hands that lived multiple lifetimes resonates through the backwoods. All amplified by plants once deemed poisonous by the intruders that left this place long ago, now revered by humans and animals alike, to connect with a deeper sense of their own cosmic identity.

Kurabiye, the messenger of Netam’s full-length album “Yabani” that is to be released from Kanto Records on June 26th, is a time capsule of childhood; waking up with the first daylight, hundreds of games to be discovered, a whole day to be lived, the unlimited excitement and inexhaustible energy, pancakes for breakfast, a big cookie that bakes in the oven, a new riddle and an invented fairytale. Kurabiye that translates as a cookie, was composed by Netam with the longing for childhood and the curiosity for a child’s perception of the world.

Netam'ın 26 Haziran’da Kanto Records etiketiyle çıkacak albümü “Yabani'nin” habercisi "Kurabiye", çocukluğa dair bir zaman kapsülü. Günün ilk ışığıyla uyanmak, keşfedilmek için bekleyen yüzlerce oyun, yaşanmak için bekleyen koca bir gün, yerlere göklere sığmayan bir heyecan ve bitmek tükenmek bilmeyen bir enerji, kahvaltıdaki pankek, fırında pişen kurabiye, yeni bir tekerleme, uydurma bir masal… “Kurabiye” Netam tarafından çocukluğa özlemle ve çocukların algıladığı dünyaya duyulan merakla bestelendi.

Başak Günak is a sound artist and composer also internationally known as AH! KOSMOS in the field of electronic music. Her work includes sound art, performance, sound installation, composition for theater & contemporary dance.

She released two solo LPs Bastards & Beautiful Swamp from Compost Records & Denovali Records and numerous EPs. Both timeless and otherworldly, Günak’s work unconsciously defies being tied to a genre, tapping into something beyond an immediate surrounding or experience to communicate something more transcendental.
