DJ Tipz makes a return from his 2011 Common Question? remix to bring us his first solo release. This incredibly soft yet percussive song concentrates on the smoother energy of dance music. The laid back approach to the musicality is also laced with the unmistakable voice of ‘Kholi’, well known for her stellar performance on C9ine’s ‘Chasing’.

Lifetime is warm, dubby and yet very clubby in it’s form, a great piece of sonic bliss for the softer side of club-land.

Afro House pioneer and father of Ancestral Soul, Boddhi Satva presents his new album, ‘Manifestation’, on BBE Music offshoot Batakari.

With ‘Manifestation’ Boddhi Satva brings to a close a trilogy of long players. Following 2012’s ‘Invocation’ and 2016’s’ Transition”, this new opus completes its first cycle of Ancestral Soul.

This most conceptual of Afro House’s producers offers an ode to lovers of the genre with a project that is both easy-listening and club-ready, with more urban sounds (R’n’B, Soul, Trap, Amapiano) intertwined with the frantic rhythms of large African cities such as Bamako, Dakar or Nairobi.

In the making of ‘Manifestation’, Boddhi Satva has once again surrounded himself with artistic friends, each as talented as the next, joined by a shared need for music and magic in these dark times of global pandemic. Boddhi Satva has thus multiplied his already-prolific number of collaborators to almost thirty on this album.

On this concept project Boddhi Satva set out to break the rules by showcasing atypical voices that will send listeners on a journey from the United States through South Africa, East and Central Africa as well as many European countries. Once an Afro House ‘enfant terrible’,
it turns out Satva grew up to be a respectable boss, patiently mentoring new generations of producers.

Boddhi Satva maps, through the course of ‘Manifestation’, a path he has been tracing for two decades: bringing together people from different musical genres and backgrounds, all contributing to his singularly focussed musical and spiritual vision. In fact, more than simply a ‘Manifestation’, Boddhi Satva has signed his manifesto here.

In Boddhi Satva’s own words: “Manifestation truly represents my musical evolution through my 21 years of career in the music industry. You’d think that as the years go by I’d run out of juice and more than ever this appears as an absolute impossibility for me. Music has helped and blessed me in so many ways, strengthened me when going through emotionally challenging times, and allowed me to transcend myself in ways I couldn’t formulate in words. I dedicate this album to my mother who was alive through the making of this project but recently passed away on the 15th of February 2022, just a week before her 73rd birthday.”

Artwork was created by Omar Victor Diop, who says:
“With this visual creation, I wanted to share my testimony as Boddhi’s creative friend, knowing the intensity of the personal journey that the Ancestral Soul trilogy represents for him. ‘Manifestation’, the final chapter of this odyssey, is the reaching of the garden of consciousness, an epiphany moment in the life of any artist, where peace is savoured through the exercise of an uninhibited, pure and cathartic creation. . My brother Boddhi made it happen … and I am proud to bear witness to it with this work.”

This was created shortly after the tragedy that was (and STILL is) the Trayvon Martin murder in 2012. Some Hollywood people wanted to remake Chaka Khan's re-make of the classic and tapped me to come up with a new arrangement literally overnight. My version was eventually not used, but I decided to still post it because hey...I did it in half a day and was proud of it. The original co-writer of the song (Ricky Rouse) came after me earlier this year thinking I was trying to get publicity for something I had up for over 3 years and wasn't even trying to push so *shrugs* whatever. No disrespect intended and definitely no infringement caused as this is simply my original take/rearrangement and nothing more, and was requested by reps for Chaka herself, even if it wasn't used.

Super Life  - Chaka Khan (Ahmed's New Instrumental Arrangement)

Track #4 from my protest album/EP entitled, The Mourning After, in tribute to the fallen men, women, and children of color who were murdered by a racist regime of evil police officers who never deserved to wear the badge, let alone handle a gun. It is not happenstance, not "fearing for their life", and certainly not justice when the vast majority of the murderers in blue are let off with little to no punishment at all.

I had to release my rage into the healing power of music, and it was this remake of Duke Pearson & Donald Byrd's "Cristo Redentor" that I felt was an appropriate song of mourning to express my deep sadness and anger at the systemic racism that was designed to bring about what few are calling (but is accurately) a genocide.

Anyway, I enlisted the talents of Jill Scott/Bootsy Collin tour trumpeter, Farnell Newton (@fnbeatsgalore), to cover Donald's iconic solo, but in his style and voicing, to express this sadness and melancholy through music. Yes, it comes out smooth and lounge jazzy, but it begins with a gunshot just to let you know that this is anything but relaxed and chill...more so a soulful way of saying goodbye while also preparing for the fight ahead for freedom, justice, and equality amongst ALL people...but if Black Lives Don't Matter in that equation...then ALL LIVES TRULY DON'T!

"Infant Eyes" is an original composition composed by the renowned jazz legend, Wayne Shorter, 54 years ago in 1964, on the album 'Speak No Evil' (a jazz classic/masterpiece).

It's one of my most favorite jazz ballads and one of the most beautiful/romantic/sexiest–melodically–in my own opinion. I honestly did this for no other reason than I love the song, wanted to practice it and figure out what the chord changes were and how it would sound if I played it with a Fender Rhodes electric piano sound. Before you know it, I recorded every other individual section (jazz brush drums, acoustic upright/double bass, and string section), mixed and mastered it, and decided to just upload it just because *shrugs*. 

I didn't spend too much time on this, once I figured out the chord structure, so it's not the best I could have done, so just consider it a rough idea/practice session I decided to release without trepidation. Oh, and I only did one passage of it, so it's only just over 2 minutes, but if you still enjoy it past all those disclaimers, then cool lol
