The wait is over! Today is the day. Here it is folks. My first project for 2013. This one is for all my B-boys, B-Girls, and Funk enthusiast. On this one I've teamed up with BATTLE OF THE YEAR to give you the official BOTY World Finals Mixtape. Enjoy!

For those that don't know, here's a little insight on BOTY. The Battle Of The Year has come a long way. Who would have thought that BOTY would go from starting out in 1990 in a local youth culture center with 500 hard-core fans to an arena packed with more than 12,000 roaring spectators and b-boy crews from all over the world? BOTY has grown massively – and we have slowly realised our vision of developing the spirit of breakdance and creating an international event platform that allows B-Boys and B-Girls from all different countries to express their creativity in front of an ever-growing audience. BOTY 2012 was huge – and our aim is to keep it growing, evolving and pushing it to become the best Battle Of The Year we can possibly achieve, to once again prove that the event has earned its position as a pinnacle of the breaking and b-boying scene.

District formed with the intent of creating music that both drew from mid-'90s East Coast hip-hop à la De La Soul, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, and Gang Starr music that showcased the often overlooked Washington, DC rap scene. Comprised of two MCs, X.O. and yU, and producer/MC Oddisee (who has also released a handful of solo albums and produced tracks for Jazzy Jeff, among others, and is part of the Low Budget Crew with Kev Brown, Kenn Starr, and Cy Young), the group first introduced themselves to the hip-hop community by releasing a series of singles in the late '00s. In April, 2009 Diamond District put out the clean version of their debut full-length, In the Ruff, for free music blogs, and garnered enough press and attention from it that they were able to approach hip-hop label Mello Music Group with evidence of their fan base and why they should be signed. It worked, and the label released the unedited version of In the Ruff in October, 2009 with plans for a follow-up, titled March on Washington, to appear the next year.

Before my next mix of newer material I wanted to make the first in a series of Classics mixes. These are the breaks that I remember being played all the time in the early 2000's. Some of them are straight up bboy anthems. Leacy, Dadeo, Geometrix and local radio DJ's had a big impact on what I play in this mix. To me, these sounds were everywhere and I wanted to bring that vibe back for the newer generation who might not know these breaks as well. Thank you to everyone who's supported me and believed in me. "check it... this mix means a whole lot to me! This was the first mix that I ever did and pretty much what really put me down the path I have taken on this DJ shit... Big ups to my brother Buddy Vladimir Decastro for teachin the kid the ropes.. I learned a lot about DJing just by working on this mix... How to put things together in a cohesive fashion, how to flava that shit out, etc.. This was a strong foundation on my DJing today foreal... We worked on this for like 4 straight days from 9pm to like 5am... Had to go to class and work the next day, then right back to recording... Damn the good ol days lol... But yo...
