NOTE: This is not a song. Recorded on May 6th in Lake Lure North Carolina.  All recordings taken from the lake, rivers, and dam of Lake Lure. Everything was recorded at 24-bit 96k with a Sound Devices 702 recorder and DPA-8011 Hydrophone. No editing or post processing.

Soundwalk 2

Recording today of a container full of thousands of Maggots squirming in wet mud. I buried two H2a-XLR hydrophones below the surface (in the mud), and placed two DPA-4060 Lav microphones on the top surface and let the maggots call all over the place. All 4 channels are unprocessed, unedited 24bit-96khz captured with a Sound Devices recorder.

In het kader van OpenDoek festival in 2006 werkte aifoon met gedetineerden uit drie Kempische gevangenissen. Zij zijn 24/7 visueel afgesloten van de buitenwereld. De geluiden die ze hoorden vanuit hun cel, spelen dus een belangrijke rol in hun mentale wereld. 

De deelnemers namen zelf geluiden op in de gevangenis zelf, en beschreven aan ons geluiden uit de buitenwereld die wij dan voor hen opnamen. 

Al deze geluiden gebruikten ze om een geluidencompositie te maken over hoe ze hun detentie beleefden. De ene compositie klonk zeer gelaten en afwezig, de andere was heel bombastisch en chaotisch...

aifoon is active in the field of sound and listening. 
aifoon investigates the movement, dimensions and scope of listening in a variety of ways. We capture sounds and use them as raw materials for artistic productions and participative projects such as audio walks, aural massages and sound compositions.

During our creative projects, we guide the participants through an adventure on which they rediscover the act of listening. Co-creation is central to what we do, together with partner organisations, artists, the public, but also with key players in a range of fields, including youth work, education, care, architecture, environment and urban planning.
