In his words....

“I came across the original record while I was digging for Middle Eastern music. It had this very energetic and sort of heroic vibe to it. There are a lot of emotions going on throughout the whole song. I just couldn’t get enough of it. So I decided to sample the main parts and completely flip it. I wanted to emphasize the energetic part while making it more mysterious. My goal was to turn it into something new rather than just make it dancefloor friendly. The sample was tough but very fun to play with.”

In response to the earthquake that struck Morocco last month, Ransom Note and Geneva-based DJ and producer Reda Saiarh have compiled a relief compilation to raise money for charities helping those impacted by the disaster.

The strongest earthquake on record for over a century, the quake hit on 8th September in the High Atlas mountains, around 70 kilometres southwest of Marrakesh, killing over 3000 people and impacting the lives of over 300,000 more. 

‘Tadamoun: A Compilation for Moroccan Earthquake Relief’, rallies friends from across the world for a 24 track-release that features music from Anatolian Weapons, Romain FX, Justine Forever, Cornelius Doctor, Zaatar and more. Musically it travels across many sounds and styles too, from ambient electronica, trip hop and leftfield bass to chugging Italo, jackin’ new beat and trippy techno. 

All proceeds will be split 50/50 between two charities who are helping to raise money for those affected and to rebuild communities that have been devastated: Atlas Kinder, a charity who supports abandoned children in Morocco, and Insaf, a non-profit organisation that protects and supports women and children.

The story behind the edit:
@aaronmaple first discovered Amira Saqati through a mixtape he was listening to via Soundcloud last fall. He remembers quickly browsing Amira Saqati's discography after the discovery and enjoying many songs from it. Hel Aeynik's vocals and melody got him right away. 
Aaron Maple version is a dancefloor oriented version with more groove to play at peak time. He recorded new drums and a new bassline. And he reorganized the structure and played with samples but kept vocals in the core element of the song.
