Three is the magic number and continues the Connection Lost series by @massimilianopagliara on Uncanny Valley. The series is a highly emotional project for the masterful Italian DJ and producer with music that is deeply inspired by thoughts on how to cope, once the connection with loved ones is cut. As wide as the feelings and emotions in those situations are, as varied is the sound palette with tracks between Acid, House, Disco and Downbeat.

There’s also continuity in the visual aspects, as Alexander Dorn aka Credit 00 again created the artwork for the third part of the series in line with the two predecessors.

The record opens with the technoid UNFETTERED and indeed the spirit in Massi's machines is completely unleashed as the track gradually layers alarming and mysterious pads over an unstoppable acid line and uncompromising drum work. FORGOTTEN SECRETS can be read as a nod to the title track of the first Connection Lost EP but is primarily an ever-building smasher that will make waves on every dance floor from major festivals to the carpet next to your couch.

Then there is IRIDESCENT SOLITUDE, which comes with a warm discoid feel and is a pitch perfect example of why Massi has a knack for surrounding powerful bass lines with a setup of beautiful melodies and instruments. Just listen to this guitar played by Jules Etienne. Finally comes EMPTY ROOM, which is carried by a sleazy hip-hop beat while keeping a very relaxed pace. It feels like the musical equivalent of looking at the stars, where you discover shooting star-like sounds again and again.

Futureboogie Recordings is calling time after ten years with a 20-track compilation that sums up the sound of the lovingly curated Bristol label. From throbbing arps and noirish guitar twangs to errant analogue blips and ceaseless, rolling grooves, it’s a different sound to what you might have heard five years back on the Summer Riot IV compilation, and certainly a long way from the early days. Consider Futureboogie 10² an ode to evolution as much as a toast to all the great tracks and the family of artists that have passed through the wide-reaching Futureboogie sphere since before the label was even a sparkle in the disco ball.
 
Originally founded by Dave Harvey and Steve Nickolls, the roots of Futureboogie lie in an intimate Bristol party called Seen. Started in 2002, this open-hearted session invited the likes of Metro Area, Attica Blues, Carl Craig, Maurice Fulton, Moodymann and Gilles Peterson – based on that heavyweight list, you can see the foundations were laid for what was to come. Futureboogie evolved off the back of these parties as a many-limbed operation – an artist management and booking agency as much as a club night, with Harvey and Nickolls consolidating the sound as DJs around Bristol and beyond. The progression to a record label was a logical one.
 
When Futureboogie Recordings launched in 2011 with Julio Bashmore and Javeon McCarthy’s ‘Father Father’, it represented an extended circle of friends close to the label from Bristol’s deep pool of talent and beyond – amongst them Eats Everything, Waifs & Strays, PBR Streetgang, Behling & Simpson and Crazy P. The reach of the label grew in tandem with its reputation, not to mention the endeavours of the team in other areas of the music game. The Boogiefuturo label became a vital entity on its own terms, carrying a lauded DJ Nature remix of Typesun which encapsulates two distinct generations of Bristolian house music at its best. DJ Nature, who cut his teeth as DJ Milo in the Wild Bunch days, has gone on to become a regular feature on Futureboogie, helping define its soulful, adventurous spirit.

LeSale is back with the Synchronized EP, which marks his fifth solo EP on Luv Shack Records. 

The title track is LeSale´s first foray into boogie-funk, featuring lyrics and vocals by Kathy Diamond, one of the great voices of the early nu-disco era and former singer of the duo KDMS, as well as tape mixing by vienna based studio wizard Sam Irl. "Synchronized" comes in 4 versions; the classic vocal mix featuring the full vocals by Kathy Diamond, the instrumental mix which is stripped of the vocals entirely, the extended dub mix, featuring arrangement and additional overdubs by Sam Irl, concentrating on the bare,funky essence of the track and finally, a special remix by Ooft!. 

The Ooft! remix lays a club foundation for "Synchronized", taking it to proto house territory with a sparse use of original vocals and additional drums, synth leads and pads.

As a bonus original track, we get "Superfluid", an upbeat elektro-funk journey with the right amount of quirkiness to provide a contrast to the pop appeal of "Synchronized".

label boss @franz-matthews. ‘A Fine Life Remix’ EP sees PYRAME invite four exciting artists to remix this galvanising, cosmic package including Italian artist Rodion who has releases on Gomma and Les Disques De La Mort, London’s
Days Of Being Wild, Love On The Rocks’ artist Omer and French electronic masters Acid Washed, fronted by Andrew Claristidge.

‘Losing Control’ Days of Being Wild remix begins proceedings with effervescent oscillations, ecstatic pads in the distance and undulating euphoria before Omer’s remix of ‘Where Are We Now?’ deploys vibrant percussive loops, fluttering cosmic synths and enrapturing melodies.
