Born in Mexico and raised in Chicago, Jes has been exposed to the Chicago music culture since the the mid 80’s. It was very early on when Jes realized his passion for music and began working on his musical career. Growing up in Little Village of Chicago, Jes decided to lead a life of musical expression and started to work on his dreams on becoming the best DJ/Producer in the world. 1989 Jes began working at DJ International records store to gain knowledge of every musical genre throught the guidance of Benji Espinosa. At the age of 18 Jes was asked to become the resident DJ at the second infamous Warehouse in Chicago.Shortly after Jes started to make guest appearances at just about every nightclub in the Chicago.

By the mid 90's, Jes started to release music on various record labels in Chicago, then labels  globally. Soon after Jes starts to collaborate with some of the biggest Artist and Producers in the game and quickly dives deep into remixing. 

Jes still continues to produce music  and consistently keeps releasing new music on many popular labels.  Jes is an original house pioneer that continues to be an integral part of the underground electronic scene. Jes, continues to receive well deserved media and industry attention with its 44th release on his imprint fresca recordings. 

Jes keeps himself involved in the cultural arts in Chicago by performing at many summer festivals & events all year around. Since the project's inception, Jes has been an integral part of the musical aspects of these events bringing art and music together to create unique environments to propel the artistic aspect of the digital world.

The rattle of a snare drum could be heard in the distance as the band marched their way across the land. Eventually they would reach the gates of the city and the boom boom boom of drums would be upon their very doorstep. The party would commence, the sun would gaze down upon them and they would dance with a new lease of life. The boom was everything to them, everything and nothing at the same time. The dance meant more.

Invisible City returns with the hotly anticipated reissue of Amajovi Jovi by Durban’s O.G. kwaito giant, Sandy B.  Originally self-released on cassette and a white label 12”, rumour has it Sandy had to remake the tracks from memory because even he couldn’t find a copy. 
 
In its original post-apartheid context, Amajovi Jovi was a sign of youthful subversiveness, rebellious creativity and a neck snapping rejection to the fascist groove of a silenced nation.  While the Pantsulla hustler nods to house legends like Jamie Principle and Pal Joey, its hip hop breaks and interludes show a clear affection for Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle.  At its slowed down tempo however, this low-fi kwaito masterpiece turns away from its American influence and looks towards Baldelli and his cosmos.  Best of all are Sandy’s vocals— deep, melodic Zulu rap, sung flippantly—the way that only a true gangster could.  It now stands as one of the finest glimpses of 90s party music to ever be blasted at the underground parties of the South African townships. 
 
A huge fave of Jamie Tiller, Tako, Young Marco, Optimo, Trevor Jackson and ICE, we are proud to present a limited vinyl and cassette reissue from one of the godfathers of kwaito. Remastered and restored from the original cassette tape.  Designed by Zeitype. Distributed by Rush Hour.
