Multi Culti conjure Calypso Cult once again with this split ep from Iñigo Vontier & Thomass Jackson.

Fresh off back-to-back seasons of Tuluminati rituals, these two well-worn chug warriors of dark disco have kept Mexico dancing throughout the pandemic, maintaining a prolific release schedule on top of a world-leadingly busy calendar of gigs. 

Thomass Jackson turns in a pair of wonky eyes-closed bangers with the modular-flecked ‘Big Plastic Room,’ and the restrained ecstatic power of ‘Slow Train.’ Iñigo fires back with the twerky, tribal madness of ‘Jungle Tungle’ and the meandering mushroom-inspired-madness of ‘Hipocampos.’

Joyce Muniz & Theus Mago’s feisty ‘Balin Bali’ Italo collaboration is a hot enough snack on its own, but with these two excellent new remixes it just got even tastier.

French producer and Jennifer Cardini collaborator Damon Jee steps up with an alternate Italo take on the original. The track builds slowly and with a moody edge as synths soar and snares hit hard over a chugging arpeggiated bassline, climaxing a dizzying breakdown which really gets the synapses firing. Slamming us back down into a sparse arrangement where that bassline rules all, the euphoria is snatched away from us suddenly in dramatic and very effective fashion.

Next up, Marvin & Guy up the tempo to a pacey house bounce and lay on some gentle electro textures. Shimmering stabs fizz atop a galloping beat as relentless bass waves undulate propulsively. The synths unfurl further in the breakdown before the time-stretched vocal announces the drop, where a heady crescendo awaits us. Synth flutes add a mystical edge next as the track steps back into a more hypnotic groove.

German producer and City Club resident Raphael Schön brings a wide array of influences to his work and a real sense of playful personality. He contributed to this label's IMPACT compilation series and was last out with his 'I’ll Be The Energy’ EP in 2021, but he has also landed on Enclave and SNC RECS. 

This one opens up with 'Fantasy Turning Me', a vibrant, jacked-up house track with big synth energy and steamy vocals that bring a seductive edge. It's a timeless sound full of colour and bumping grooves. The excellent 'I Feel The Power' is another tightly coiled, punchy house track with a big heart. The drums and bass roll under whispered and libidinous vocals and clever percussive fills while a zippy lead synth keeps things fresh. The excellently emotive 'Keep My Mind Off You' is a deep and dynamic cut with a sense of urgency, classically inclined house drums, an epic piano breakdown and a belting vocal to send things to the next level. Last is 'I Don ́t Know Why' - another effortlessly cool house groove with breezy synths and plenty of soulful stylings delivered at a slick pace.

01. Steffi - Irreversible Cessation (Convextion Remix)

San Francisco's finest, Michael Devin AKA Mr Tea, is back on Paper with another 4 track EP of the deep, aural brilliance for those who know what's what. 

The Slow Reveal is a warm embrace of dusty, deep 4/4 grooves that is equal parts cosmic and deep soul. Main room, late nights or early mornings, it goes to the roots of 'house is a feeling'.  

Shock Therapy is a much more blissed out affair and one for the psychedelic heads. Deeper dimensions get explored on this as it weaves its hypnotic spell.

Mindsweeper goes to a darker place than its predecessors. Jerky and jacking beats with a touch of Tenaglia lock in behind whacked out synths and spaced-out rhythms for a track that goes subterranean.

Finally, Head Full of Butterflies is a stunning spaced-out soundscape, with warped loops of distorted vocals wrapping around trippy synth pads, all floating on an air of DMT.
