ÄIO is a Norwegian/Estonian experimental folkmusic ensemble. Katariin Raska - sopran sax/torupill/jew'sharp/overtone flute/vocal; Anders Hefre - bass clarinet/irish flute; Jon Hjellum Brodal - hardanger fiddle/fiddle/vocal; Christian Meaas Svendsen – doublebass

ÄIO uses musical material mainly from the Estonian and Norwegian traditional heritage. With an approach to both improvised and experimental music, ÄIOs music sounds very intuitive but in the same time strongly attached to the traditional material in it.
One of the front figures in the band, Katariin Raska, uses saxophone and Estonian bagpipe as her main instruments and explores the gap between the traditional use of these instruments both musically and technically.
