Unsere Nr. 238 kommt heute von einem spannenden, französischen Künstler, den es, wie viele andere, ins globale Zentrum der elektronischen Musik nach Berlin verschlagen hat. Dort machte er sich innerhalb kürzester Zeit mit seinem hypnotischen Downbeat Style einen Namen. Darüber hinaus ist er Mitgründer des aufstrebenden Labels Crepite (https://soundcloud.com/crepitecollective), einer Berlin / Paris Connection, die ohne Witz nur vorzügliche Releases veröffentlichen. 

Die Rede ist von Farn aka Quentin. Einem Musikliebhaber der langsamen Sorte, welcher in seinen Berliner Anfängen rund sieben Jahre her besonders durch uns (Danke an dieser Stelle), Amselcom (https://soundcloud.com/amselcom) und Laut&Luise (https://soundcloud.com/lautundluise) geprägt wurde. Auch die bekannten SOMETHING SLOW (https://soundcloud.com/somethingslow) Events im Beate Uwe (https://soundcloud.com/beateuwe) verzückten und inspirierten ihn in seinem Schaffensdrang. Kein Wunder dass er neben dem DJ’ing dann auch selbst anfing zu produzieren. Ich erinnere mich noch sehr gut an seine beeindruckende Premiere „Levitum“ (https://soundcloud.com/afterhour-sounds/premiere-farn-levitum-original-mix-crepite?in=afterhour-sounds/sets/premiere) bei uns, die mich vollkommen in den Bann zog und immer noch tut. Ich merkte sofort, dieser Kerl hat das gewisse etwas in seinem Sound. Nämlich tiefe, träumerische und gleichzeitig druckvolle Momente. Definitiv ein Qualitätsmerkmal seines Sounds, welcher sich sowohl in den Releases auf Crepite, als auch in seinen Mixen widerspiegelt. 

Kein Wunder, dass mich das für uns aufgenommene Set direkt in den Bann gezogen hat. Der Beat, die Flächen und die leicht düstere Stimmung entführen einen definitiv ohne Umwege aus dem Alltag hin zu einer nebeligen Sommerwiese frühs morgens zum Sonnenaufgang im wunderschönen Grün. Dabei bewegt er sich gekonnt irgendwo zwischen Tanz und Traum, Druck und Leichtigkeit, aber alles mit einer hypnotischen Aura versehen. Für ihn ist Downtempo definitiv keine Chillout Musik mehr, sondern ein Raum des Experimentierens. Nämlich verschiedene Subgenres miteinander zu verbinden und eine große BPM Range an den Tag zu legen. Jeder Hörer und Tänzer soll hierbei nie den Eindruck bekommen, dass er wüsste, was als nächstes folgt. Dies ist ihm sehr wichtig. Was er damit nun konkret meint, könnt ihr in seinem absolut einzigartigen und fesselnden Podcast bei uns hören. Ich sage nur Minute 35…. Ein absoluter Hörgenuss, ohne Übertreibung. Aber hört und entscheidet selber. Für mich definitiv eines dieser Podcasts, welchen ich mir definitiv noch unzählige Male anhören werden. Bestimmt auch in zehn Jahren. Dies bin ich mir sichser. Ganz nebenbei überzeugt die Aufnahme durch eine Playlist der Superlative. Neben einigen, kommenden Releases auf Crepite, haben sich weitere, mir teils unbekannte Dancefloor Weapon’s von anderen Labels und auch einige Stücke aus seinem Klassiker Ordner in den Podcast geschlichen. Ich erahne jetzt schon das ein oder andere „Track ID?“ Kommentar…

Schnallt euch an… Ich kann mich nur wiederholen, aber es erwartet euch eine Reise, die wie gemacht für eine Afterhour ist. Keine Phrase, keine Fake-News, sondern ehrliche Worte eines musikverliebten Spessarters.

Ich danke dir vielmals Quentin für dieses besondere Set. Umwerfend nachttraumtanzbar und erfrischend gut. Chapeu.

Kusht surfaces with a playful release full of tottery synths, crisp percussions and mind-bending samples.  
On this 6-track LP released on almost occult YNFND from Germany's ever rainy baltic coast, the Scottish producer easily blends bluesy guitar riffs with wailing electronic pads.  Shuffled backbeats melt with ominous samples into a sticky glue, trapping every listener into a bouncy dance.  
Kusht can already look back on a vivid and versatile back- catalogue but still manages to top it off with a many-sided and thought-out work of art in his signature style.

Ich wünsche meinen lieben Hörern, Künstlern und Freunden ein wunderbares und gesundes 2020. Mögen sich eure Wünsche und Träume erfüllen. 

Es ist viel passiert im 2019 und ich habe auch viele Entscheidungen getroffen die einiges in meinem Leben verändert haben und speziell im 2020 verändern werden. Eins davon ist das es der letzte Neujahrs-Mix in meiner kleinen feinen Podcast-Reihe sein wird … ihr könnt euch noch auf zwei wunderbare weitere Podcast freuen und dann ist Ende Januar Schluss mit sound(ge)cloud … man soll bekanntlich aufhören wenn es am schönsten ist.

Aber erst mal ist es ja noch nicht so weit und deswegen öffnen wir mit NIL SON aus Dresden heute erst mal die Büchse der Pandora. Und Nil Son hat zu diesem Mythos auch seine ganz Eigene und schöne Vorstellung die ich euch nicht vorenthalten möchte und der eigentlich nix hinzuzufügen ist.

for over 2 years now i've been honored and thankful of being a part of just the most exciting and delightful collective in sáo paulo: @quackcoletivo and we have been promoting the most absurd and amazing parties and showcases all around, but we had our HQ called Ninho, or "nest", where we produced over 20 parties that were more like an experience into a bubble of honest care, absurdly good music, and the best vibe around. dozens of great artists have played in our nest from many parts of brazil and from other countries as well, and we just recently had to throw our last party at this incredible location and are pretty much homeless right now. this set was made during this last Quack! at the Ninho, and i played a 3-hour-long set of some crazy dui antics and improvisation during the morning of our 18-hour-long farewell to our home and this is the first part of it (oh, and i forgot to hit record so it started kind of in the middle of something). this place will be sorely missed

Beloved Ecstatic Dance Community, this is the set I played at the Ecstatic Dance Festival "Let Your Body Be The Prayer" in Southern Germany.
This set is perfect to listen to, if you have too much (stuck) energy at the moment! ;)
It begins tender and soft, and unfolds into a very powerful climax with two peaks (the cruise between the peaks may be hard to identify... :D ), which will make you sweat... surrender to the beats or take a break, if you can't continue :P

The first track is missing in this mix. If you want to listen to it before, it is: "Aleya Dao - Open Path"
