"Crickets" is a unique record because it's the first of its kind in her career. She had always desired a song that would embody the music she has cherished throughout the years. The song itself was influenced by two musicians she really admires, Lucky Daye and Adele. Anjoli and No Past No Future aimed to eloquently depict the sensation of “hearing crickets” through understandable language. This song is all that an essential breakup song should be.

Aiza is an Afro-bop queen steadily building her empire. Her live performances are filled with explosive, positive energy and her uplifting, playful lyrics spark comparisons to other badass trailblazing women such as Lizzo and Janelle Monáe.

In 2022, while providing the finishing touches to a body of new music written during the pandemic, Aiza also produced, wrote, directed, and co-hosted the series Real Blackity Talk for CBC Gem with her sister Kamana, celebrating the perspectives and experiences of Black women and non-binary Black people in Canada. It won “Series of The Year” at the 7th annual Dynasty Gala, and received a nomination for “Best Host, Web Program or Series” at the 2023 Canadian Screen Awards.

Aiza’s first single of 2023 “Cocoa Butter” is a pampering, pre-party pep talk, with a darkly playful energy that channels Aiza’s desire to get a little debaucherous during a stressful time. After all, what’s life without a celebration?
