Leavin' Trunk Blues (Ax Sweet Mama) - Jim Condie's DIstant Cousins

This was the opening song from a set I did with Ali Farka Touré & Roger Cissé when we met in Edinburgh in 1988. These are the first notes we in the band ever heard from Ali, so it took us a couple of minutes to get into the feel of his music. Check out the other songs we did on some other Soundcloud pages. The guys in the band were: Jim Condie (guitar), David McNiven (keyboards), Mike Travis (drumkit), Kenny Ellis (bass), and Jim Sutherland (congas, percussion). Roger Cissé provided backing vocals and played the gourd. A big plus was that we managed to get Claude Harper to bring his 24-track mobile (analogue)recording studio along and record the entire gig. He still has the master tapes - I just wish he would learn how to digitise them and do something with them!

Recorded over the weekend of 16th/17th/18th January 2021. 
I had put the rthymn guitar and double bass down and emailed it to drummer Robert Thompson who added drums and mixed it . 
Robert emailed me it back and I got into a jazz frame and put the solo guitar on it on Monday 18th.
