“This set is all about acceptance and letting things be. It's about the state of flow, it's about pursuing action in non-action. The lack of control we’ve all experienced in the past year or so over what’s next appears to be here to stay for a while. This has been giving me a great deal of restlessness like everyone else lately, the fear that it’s never going to end. But luckily again, once more, I was able to appreciate whilst preparing this set how liberating this state of flux can be too. When you just let go and sail on, magic begins to happen. Or at least, even if it doesn’t, it’s a good endowment to be able to self-hypnotise yourself - so long as it makes you feel better as a person, and the world around you a better place to be in. OpenLab Presents: Y Bülbül

So excited to continue this beloved series with a sonic exploration of Laos. This episode we discover rare cuts and selections from an array of time-periods in this countries complicated timeline. I take us on an auditory time-capsule, learning the sounds of Mor Lam, Luang Prabang (traditional court music), music of the Khene flute (instrument of Laos), Vietiane and Chmapasak styles.

Thank you to all the native Laos people who helped me begin to learn and discover the sounds of this wonderful place. Also, Thank you you to Ae.

We’re bringing the music back in the venue. We miss vibing and grooving together. The circumstances are different but the mindset remains the same. During these times we can only dance in our imagination and we want to nourish exactly that creative state of mind while respecting the rules.

Tenth Black and White Session with Ajele.
As daughter of a Swiss mother and a Ghanaian father, Ajele was born and raised in Switzerland, where, at the age of eighteen, she got introduced to the electronic music scene and realized there were hardly any female DJs. Now that was something she strived to change! The Decision was made and the first records, mixer and decks where bought. Vinyl shopping became an addiction and playing them a passion. Since 1996 she’s an inherent part of Zurich’s electronic music scene.
In the past 10 years she took a step back from traveling abroad but she still has her regular gigs within the Swiss clubs and festivals. She is also a regular in our livingroom, where she developed her smooth side. Playing her eclectic interpretation of a chillout set.
