Cuando leímos la novela “Nosotros, los de Makulusu” de José Luandino Vieira, pensamos de inmediato en Waldemar Bastos y se nos instaló “Sofrimento” en la cabeza. Dos días más tarde, ya estaba grabada nuestra versión. 

“Nosotros, los de Makulusu” es una obra que cautiva, sorprende y conmueve con su bellísima escritura. Ambientada en una Angola marcada por el sufrimiento y la lucha por la independencia, la historia evoca la infancia compartida de cuatro amigos, unidos por la lealtad más allá de la raza o la clase social.

La novela retrata con maestría la desigualdad, la pobreza urbana y el despertar de la conciencia política, reivindicando la fuerza, la identidad y la riqueza cultural y lingüística de Angola. Entre la tradición oral y escrita, y a través de expresiones del portugués angoleño, Vieira rompe el silencio impuesto por la colonización y nos invita a reflexionar sobre la memoria, la resistencia y la esperanza.

Esperamos que esta canción acompañe y amplifique el mensaje de la novela, celebrando la amistad, la resistencia y la riqueza cultural de Angola.
