The sound of distant drumming,
of laughter, even the cawing
of gulls  exist because of sunshine.

The boat, shaped like a gondola, glides past.
A man is singing with abandon, 
the glass office buildings
sharply reflecting behind him,
harsh ambulance sounds echoing
in the distance.

Light, like grace, colors the crevices of the trees
broken by the storm, or the smile of a small child
learning to stand upright on the grass
