✔️ What is your musical background?
We both grew up in Leipzig's open-air and underground scenes, which inspired us with their extremely diverse landscape of music collectives. Nico started with disco and bouncy techno, while Aaron explored Italo, indie dance, and dark disco. After becoming good friends, we discovered that we both had "bass faces" while dancing to the same tracks. This inspired us to start our joint project, TnT.

✔️ In your opinion, what makes a good afterhour?
For us, a good afterhour is all about encounters. It's about being touched by the music and, above all, by interacting with other people. It's about not drifting off on your own, but rather enjoying the music together!

✔️ Any thoughts about your set and the performance at all?

We love that the midtempo-approach allows us to put together different musical styles and give them a new sound by pitching them down. With this set, we had a lot of fun pushing the genre's boundaries.

The set-performance got off to a little chaotic start: We forgot to switch the phono input to the line input at the beginning, so there was no sound at first. But the audience was very sweet and supportive, and after we restarted immediately, we had a really nice flow with the dancers and a lot of fun!

Beautiful melodies and grooves roam freely within the solar term's cadence, as global downtempo pioneers reinterpret the awakening energy through electronic pulses.

Icy synthesizers and rhythms born of deep night draw back the frost silk curtain. Ancient Eastern spirits intertwine with tribal echoes, just like Dunhuang whirlwinds lifting African savanna sands. ✔️ What is your musical background?

My first important contact with electronic music came with my dear friend Dennis (Ganji) who carried niche Downtempo genres into my Munich suburban bourgeoisie environment when I was a teenager.

However, the main influence for my DJ project were - believe it or not - intense sonic confrontations with Full-On Psytrance in 2022. Luckily, once I had my first controller Downtempo and Tech genres took over my library published by labels like down., Talpa Rec. and Crépite and produced/mixed by artists such as Riyoon, Frida Darko, Reyneke, Temple Tears, Antaares, Matildoutz, LENI and - of course - Ganji.

 

✔️ In your opinion, what makes a good afterhour?

Self-confident but mellow and conscious people. No phones, a deep gripping yet suave sound. Eye contact that gets replied with a smile, a caring question or a friendly chat.

 

✔️ How did you feel about the gig?

When Benja from Kompáz asked me to open the event, I did not know what to expect and started planning from creative scratch. Though not many people arrived this early at the Salon floor and  personally I was very troubled beforehand, the time behind the decks was my perfect start for a deeply touching and wholesome weekend.

Habikat [ at ] Kompaz Festival [ Live-Special ]

This set is more electronic, shaped by the influences I gathered during my tour in Japan, in hidden bars, sweaty clubs, long train rides and countless nights out in Berlin. I had the pleasure of playing it at Fusion Festival and went with the best crew imaginable. It was a true highlight of my year.
When you listen closely, you’ll hear a bitter sweet summer fading away.
Expect acid textures, some breaks and dubby grooves.

🌊Thanks to everyone who was there. At this special occasion she arrived from the beautiful french riviera  to our beloved Spree and took us on a special kind of afternoon swim. Groovy sounds await you on the deck, with dark disco and indie dance beats. So pick up your floaties and goggles  for one more time and dive into this wonderful set!🤿🐬

💦What does true happiness mean to you, and have you found it yet?
Wow, that's a lifelong question! :D  For me, true happiness is when you live your life aligned with your desires and values. It's an ongoing journey, as our desires are constantly evolving. But what's certain is that every time I am DJ-ing, or I listen to music I like, I'm absolutely in a state of true happiness!"

❤️What song best captures your current mood?
It's summer, so I'd say the closing track of this Kater blau set perfectly captures my current mood: it's a sunny mashup by the French electro swing band LMZG - thank you @lamuzgueul for sharing this banger! <3 

⛵If you could perform at an event anywhere in the world, which one would it be, and why?
Definitely the Sonnendeck stage at Fusion Festival. It's one of my all-time favorite stages globally, and I'd be incredibly honored to play there one day.

Here is the recording of the set that I played at @thegardensofbabylon at ADE. I had the honour to open the floor downstairs where immediately some of my favourite Gardens of Babylon family members joined the dance and stayed until the end of my set. So grateful to have been a part of this event. There were some technical failures right at the start with a broken filter knob on the mixer but once I changed CDJs I found my flow and before I knew @nourpalestina showed up to take over. I danced a lot to her set and later my favourite Max Morel and closed with Geju. The vibes was so intimate and I had one of the best dances of my life. Thank you The Gardens of Babylon and ADE for having me!! <3

(Story continued from Witchtape #60)
The little witch was enjoying a very welcome shower under the waterfall at the foot of the mountain.  She was soon shivering from the ice-cold melting water from the glaciers of Mount Hermon, soaking wet and feeling stripped to the bone while at the same time feeling purified by the crystal clear water which was slowly on its way southwards to the lowest place on planet earth… the Dead Sea.  The witch of the North was soon joined by a young teenage witch from the desert in the East and a 6000-year old witch from the Mediterranean shore on the West.  Soon they let themselves float in the water while holding each other in a tender embrace with their legs intertwining.  Despite the freezing cold water, the little witch soon warmed up by the close contact with the two other women.  Her body even started to glow as she felt the youthful energy of the desert witch enter through her skin, where it merged with the immense wisdom of the elder witch.  Soon she felt their powerful collective kundalini schingeling flow through her body, while the 3 women floated towards the middle of the river where they slowly started sinking in a slow spiraling movement, which became faster and faster while the 3 intertwined witches sank deeper and deeper into the abyss.  Yet the little witch felt perfectly at ease in the loving presence of her two sisters witch, while the spiraling movement became faster and faster.  At one point, she didn’t feel the bodies of the other witches anymore.  It was as if the three of them merged into one superbeing and the little witch felt young and old at the same time, black and white, north and south and east and west fused together into one single underwater vortex, while the girl completely lost her sense of time and space.  She had no clue how long they continued spinning around.  Maybe minutes, maybe hours, maybe weeks… until all of a sudden the spiral slowed down and the witches slowly returned back to life… back to reality…
