This year he opened up the 1st brick & mortar shop in NYC that offers New Vinyl / Used Vinyl / Manufacture / Distribution called Second Hand Records in Bushwick NY. On the show Second Hand Love, he showcases the varying degrees of psychedelic soul music thru various genres ranging from Fusion, Disco, Funk, Soul, Rare Grooves, Jazz, Boogie, Afro, & Rock. This mix originally aired in November 2022 on @soundecology1 radio c/o @fobbyjindal. Below you'll find a text I wrote about its composition:

"Years ago, I went to a lecture at York University by the filmmaker and scholar Mike Hoolboom. He gave this razor sharp talk on the idea of the first cut- the first cut into a project- the first gesture towards an idea. For him, no matter how dislocated a project got from its root causation- it would always at its heart, hold that root through to the very end. The first cut is always the deepest.

For this mix– I was interested in this idea of the First Cut in the face of imminent ecological collapse. How the first cut in our Planetary Crisis predates my body and is therefore unknowable to my body. And yet, it is from the place of embodiment that I meet our changing world.

On that note, it’s been an unseasonably warm November here in Toronto and my body’s feeling haunted. So for this episode, I’ve put together a mix of sonic hauntings. Bone shaking music– that pulses, throbs and rattles the body. Music from the depths of the heart that charts worlds real and imagined. I don’t have any answers, but I hope you’ll see this mix as a sort of research methodology into the act of listening. Listening as a way seeing or clairvoyance- as a way of considering what our world sounds like and perhaps what it is that we’re mourning. I named this mix after a pamphlet I recently found: From Electrical Fire Spirits May Be Kindled."
