Akeem Raphael is a rising star in the electronic music scene, known for his funk-infused sound and relentless energy. A self-taught drummer, bassist, producer, and DJ, Akeem burst onto the scene in 2021 with a #1 debut EP on Juno Download. Since then, he’s racked up over 50 top 100 tracks and performed at over 400 gigs, including shows at Box, Rock City, and even festivals in Germany. Nothing gets your club smiling faster than a killer disco jam. We have our go-to favourites at GU (Angelo Ferreri, Dinosauce, Jayden Voss), but we are always looking for fresh funk masters to check out. Boogietraxx is a recent addition to our radar; his "Somebody" and "One Time" cuts are pure disco explosions for your DJ sets. "Back To '89" started as an instrumental idea he sent Kevin McKay to collaborate on, and after some sample chops and Ableton tennis across the Atlantic, the pair had a killer groove to send to Akeem Raphael. The Moodfunk and Nervous Records star added his vocal touches, and the future disco anthem was complete.
