*Alex Ackermann, based in Frankfurt/ Germany, has acquired an unbelievable portfolio of sounds within electronic music in his many years as a DJ.

His diverse experiences as a club DJ in Frankfurt, Mannheim, and Berlin, among others, various mixes for major radio stations, such as Ibiza Global Radio, or his residencies at the beach-heavy event series "Cafe Del Maa", have shaped his highly varied sets for years.
Together with Tim Gray, he can be heard monthly on "MFG - My Favourite Grooves" and mixes his favorite melodies from the areas of deep, organic, techno, indie, and progressive for you."

A big one! Reaching podcast number 200 is very special. Technically, the show starts its fifth year with #208 in a couple of months, but the nice round number is as good an excuse as it gets to celebrate! I am very grateful to everyone who listens every week, to all the amazing guest DJ’s who’ve given us their musical gifts, and to my brother @djstevefinney who has expertly taken over curation of the offshoot show, Mellow Prog Vibes, with some memorable sessions already under his belt!

Thank you to our radio partners, Ottawa’s Blast The Radio, UK’s Beach Radio and The Netherland’s Meer Radio - your confidence is much appreciated! Thanks also to the radio stations that have carried our show in the past - Cosmos Radio (Germany), Dinamica Radio (Argentina), Quantum Radio (London).

This show has two goals: showcase progressive DJs from Ottawa (and Canada) to a global audience, and bring international DJ guests to an Ottawa (and Canadian) audience. For the past four years, it’s been a real treat to get to know Ottawa-based DJ’s who are, like me, lovers of progressive electronica, and very fulfilling as well to make contacts and friendships across the many countries that are represented through our guest DJ’s.

AKIVA is a melodic house and techno producer/DJ/live act based in Los Angeles producing and curating music inspired by the progressive house scene of the early 2000s.

AKIVA started his journey through music with Jaco Pastorius. The rhythmically diverse and bass-driven fusion style, presented to him by his father and uncle's jazz records, prompted his purchase of an Ibanez bass guitar. Along with jazz, he developed a love of smooth tenor and alto saxophones and, string sounds of the violin and viola through his love of classical music. 

While he was jamming out to heavy metal and classic rock in high school, Akiva discovered electronic music on NYC's KTU station. AKIVA immediately started playing progressive and goa-psytrance songs with his friends at parties. House and techno music were still considered underground at that time. As the scene grew, both in NYC and abroad, he spent waking hours adding to his music collection and refining his production skills. 

AKIVA brings passion from all of his beloved musical genres, world music, and the classical inspirations of old school techno and house, focusing on the ethereal and deep melodies found across the world today.
