Come Alive

I’ve always considered the Renaissance mix releases from yesteryear as a serious undertaking to compile, sequence, and record. These triple disc musical journeys always featured some of the best tracks from the more elegant side of dance music. This four hour set (divided into 3 x 1hr 20 minute mixes) is my attempt to recreate that magic.

Mix one is for the candle-laced lounge starting with the melancholic heartbeat of a track later accompanied by slow building melodic tunes. Mix two is for the seductive blue spotlight filled club with the tempo raised and harder hitting kicks that delve into hard hitting melodic progressive territory. Mix three is for patroning the explosive after-hours space with your best mates taking in the top shelf techno assault before the melodic morning breakbeat reprise:

Matthew J. became interested in electronic music at the early age of 11 when he was introduced to dance remixes of popular artists of the early 90's such as Michael & Janet Jackson, Gloria Estefan, and Madonna. This led to the discovering of artists abroad; Massive Attack, Sasha, Underworld, BT, William Orbit and other artists under the radar of the radio airwaves.

As Matthew had also been inspired by the melodic sounds of the 1990's progressive house, downtempo/ambient, and world music he strives to weave sounds of numerous genres to present a modern day fusion of popular and underground dance music. He has played numerous clubs and events throughout the American west coast opening for the likes of John Digweed, Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo, Henry Saiz, Sandra Collins and many other well known artists in the electronic music community.

An electronic music enthusiast who has been following his passion for music for more than 15 years and started honing his djying talents since 2018. Once he was exposed to the club and rave scenes, he couldn't get enough of the beats; he was hooked immediately to the vibe, the crowd, the atmosphere, and the pure thrill of controlling the journey. To him, it’s all about the mood and a deep, hypnotic groove.
