Sacred geometry, complex polyrhythms and clean sound design all collide in the work of Manchester outfit, Akkord.

With their critically acclaimed, self-titled debut album charting high in XLR8R’s end of year list and receiving 9/10 and 4/5 in XLR8R and RA respectively, Akkord are not resting on their success, and are already planning their next assault with this new body of work.

HTH020 consists of four tracks of much darker, moodier sounds, pairing monumental low-end frequencies with surgically precise production. The whole EP is centred around clammy, ominous atmospheres, underpinned by stomping beats and descending basslines, placing greater emphasis on the space in-between, and textured over with a doomsday ambience.

The music that Akkord create never strays out of their own minimalistic and direct approach to techno, but from there, and beyond, they touch on an ever-evolving variety of styles, which gradually drive us in front of an overwhelming and riveting soundscape.

Manchester's Indigo is an artist that was always in our sights for a Horo release when the label was created. An open minded, experimental individual that takes on different tempos constantly and masters them with his own unique style to the point that the speed of the music is unrecognisable.

'Reaching The Source' is the approach a lot of people have come to know Liam Blackburn aka Indigo for - a floating island of dream excerpts anchored by crisp percussion and Poppy Roberts vocals, a true lesson in the power of subtlety. 'Tethys' bares its teeth and writhes around with a bouncing menace that has had adventurous dancefloors enthralled. But ironically, of them all, this EP began with 'Talia' an ambient piece that you could loop to infinity, a deep valley of sumptuous sonics whirling around your ears.
