Next up is Taiko! Hailing from Auckland via the West Coast of the North Island, he has played support from acts as varied as King Kapisi to Digital, from a paddock to a basement, from Fu to NOTW. Founding member of NZ Jungle Collective Momentum, and member of Mates & Crates he can be heard every Saturday 6-8pm on the Collector's Edition (formally Big Bot Radio) on Base FM. All his mixes are analogue - he just loves that sweet sweet black crack.

After a little hiatus we're back with the AKL DNB MIX SESH! We’re hand-picking selectas from the www.facebook.com/groups/akldnb group to feature on our MIX SESH series hosted on Soundcloud... next up is TakaRat…

At the ripe age of 14 Alex Kacprzak (TakaRat) started his journey into dance music, and at 15 discovered Drum and Bass when he developed a magical connection to the genre, and quickly got stuck in to DJ’ing mates parties, producing his own music and running and promoting a few of his own events!  

Fast forwarding a few years and Alex has been fortunate enough to be mentored by the first lady of DNB - MC Tali, plays regularly up at local independent radio station studio @ Base FM as well as a slew of localised events. TakaRat while one of the youngest talents emerging from the scene has a matured taste and love for the music to match many seniors - definitely one to keep an eye on!

So I had done a mix for AKLDNB a couple weeks ago that was technically good with no mistakes etc.
Then being me..... I accidentally deleted it.  (yes muppet!)
Trying to recreate that mix just wasn't working at all.  
I realized I should just jam out an unplanned mix of shit I really like and most of all have fun.
So this is what came of it.  
A mix that goes over the prescribed 1hr length.  Has a couple wee mistakes, but most of all has vibes and bare badbwoy tunes!
You can tell it's me playing what I love and I'm enjoying it.  And that's really what music is about.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Spin around with ya arms out like a helicopter, skank, shuffle, gunfinger..... Just do what you feel and most of all have fun.

The mix I have done includes all my favourite genres of bass music. Start off at 140bpm moving through to Drum and Bass (minute 14:55 is for my ladies), then back to 140. You can expect some heaters and some unexpected tunes, and like many of my sets you can certainly expect some grime thrown in for good measure.

Smallprint has been DJing for the better part of a decade for small and large crowds of punters. From 6am kitchen sets to 12am club sets there's nothing better than getting sweaty behind the decks. 
Smallprint has had his name in the "small print" for some major artists including Alex Perez, DLR, Need for Mirrors, Fred V & Grafix, Upgrade and The Upbeats.

This week is our own AKL DNB admin and all-round legend RELLIS.

Cultivating his love of the DNB in Wellington at infamous clubs like Sandwiches, Rellis moved to Auckland in 2015 and quickly became a familiar face in the crowd at DNB shows, even boasting 117 gigs attended in 2019! With a proven ear for tunes and quickly surrounding himself with like-minded DJ friends and lovers of the 174 who strongly encouraged him to learn to mix. It was only a matter of time before Rellis stepped up to the plate(s) to start delivering tunes to the masses. While known for Liquid and vocal Liquid tunes predominantly, this AKLDNB Mix Sesh Mix offers more of a techy angle while still keeping true to the Rellis vibe.
