The Virtues Of Loss is the result of profound revelations, which came along a self-healing journey into the dark.  Bringing this down unders mix to life became a creative guide that helped us find a spark of light to navigate the path in trust once again. And so, we felt inspired to translate all the wisdom we learned into 5 hours of musical landscapes to spread that brightness to all those wounded hearts ready to embrace healing.   

We are ALL letting go of someone, something, or somewhere … most of the time, even letting go of an identity within ourselves.

Giz is a passionate music selector based in Berlin. She's currently making her joyful babysteps in a musical journey which - overloaded with so much heartwarming inspiration -  began a few months ago.

She grew up listening to vinyls from all around the world with her music aficionado father, which no doubt plays a role in her choices in life and music. She speaks 6 languages and is very much moved by all languages (from Indonesian to Mandinka) and instruments of any kind. 

She likes conveying ideas and experiences through her occasional writings but also believes in the immense power of silence and music- both as tools helping us (re)connect with each other and with the moment, in the moment, moment by moment. In the here and now, in unity. Slowing down- without rushing, racing, competing. Remembering we are here and alive, breathing in and out with vivid appreciation and gratitude for what is (just as it is) and for all the wonderful music that flies through our ears. We're very happy to share with you a snippet of tunes from our 5-hour set on the beach at Maxa Camp!  It was just wonderful to spend the day on our favorite beach playing music to such a fantastic crowd.  We journeyed gradually from old funk, reggae, and Brazilian songs to the deeper dancey vibe you'll hear in this mix.  The day ended dramatically, with a surprise rainstorm, mini party in the DJ booth, and a giant rainbow to top it all off!  Huge thanks to the folks at Maxa for welcoming us <3

Seitdem ich denken kann bin ich auf Wanderschaft, bereise auf meinem Kurs sowohl das Dorf, als auch die Stadt. Mein Weg führt mich meist über den staubigen Asphalt der Straße, hab keinen Kompass, folge nur den Sternen und meiner Nase.
Ich besitze nur das was ich zum Leben brauch, meine Gitarre, einen Hut, der Daumen schnippt mein Zippo auf. Mit einem lauten Lachen, Rückenwind und Whisky im Bauch, inhaliere ich den Zigarettenrauch.
Manch einer denkt jetzt vielleicht, ich fühl mich wohl in Einsamkeit.
Doch denen kann ich nur sagen,
die Gesellschaft des Menschen hätt' ich bitter zu beklagen. Ich bin unterwegs auf und mit Mutter Natur, 
ab dem Moment als ich ihre Schönheit sah und sie erfuhr. 
So dank ich Gott dafür Tag um Tag,
dass er mir die Freiheit gab, 
zu Leben wie ich es will und mag.

Heute gehen wir ein Stück mit Gussguss und hören die Welt aus seiner Perspektive. Dankeschön ❤

This is the soundtrack I made for the Psychedelic Breath session I did with the amazing Eva Kaczor at The Monastery Festival of The Gardens of Babylon. 

I can still see myself standing there, overlooking that beautiful big barn. This was for sure one of the most powerful musical experiences I have ever experienced on stage. Normally during my sets I have the tendency to fly. The music takes me away, energies rise, and I enter a state of flow where everything just happens naturally. This is a beautiful thing! What made this sound journey so different was that instead of flying I was feeling very grounded. This groundedness enabled me to really deeply experience this journey and it’s impact on us. Sharing this with so many people at the same time makes it so much stronger.   

It is crazy how something so fundamental to our lives, our breath, becomes such a powerful tool when used consciously. This technique is a shortcut to enter a sort of dreamy state in your brain, in which you are neither awake nor asleep: the theta state. This meditative state is the gateway to your creativity, learning and intuition, and it allows you to access the power of your unconscious mind.

PSYCHEDELIC BREATH is Eva Kaczor’s own mix of dynamic breathing techniques from ancient traditions and contemporary science fused with evocative electronic music sets, she creates in collaboration with artists such as Acid Pauli and Birds of Mind. Both, deep breathing as well as electronic music, have the power to alter your state of consciousness and let you access higher realms of awareness. 

I was deeply touched by the reactions after the session. I have never seen so many people in tears of love and joy. Thank you

There are 11 cycles in the sound journey each cycle consisting of dynamic and relaxing sections. In the dynamic sections there is a deep beat you breathe intensely. The relaxing section is more ambient and you let your breath out and then finally hold it in before you enter the dynamic section of the new cycle. If you listen carefully you can hear a windchime/bell which indicates that the journey is moving into the next dynamic or relaxing section. Enjoy
