Jacob Groening is back on his record label Kamai Music with a stunning album release that orientates around indie dance grooves with organic textures.

Based in Berlin, Jacob Groening is a highly respected DJ who plays regularly at local venues like Kater Blau, alongside international bookings in countries ranging from India to Brazil. His immersive style is a chic blend of invigorating percussion and heartfelt melodies that are sequenced into mid-tempo masterpieces.

An accomplished producer, Jacob Groening often frequents Kamai Music, but his tracks and remixes can also be found on other prestigious imprints such as 3000 Grad Records, Cosmic Awakenings and Earthly Delights.

This magnificent release unfolds to transcend genres as it first picks up momentum then drops back down again, before building back up with a psychedelic twist. It's a storytelling release that touches on styles ranging from deep/melodic house to downtempo electronica.

"Timefades" is the album's title track and it opens the release with twinkling synth melodies and emotive vocals built on a framework of stripped back percussion. It's got '80s undertones which showcase how this contemporary release has a timeless sound that makes it an instant classic.

"Gemini" has a chugging groove with a throbbing bassline and trippy guitar chords that intermingle with softly sung vocals and shuffling percussion rhythms. It's an intimate track with a laidback groove that wraps the listener in its soft and silky tones.

"Reset" has an extended intro where spiralling synths and epic chords build suspense in the build up to the introduction of the percussion and dreamy melody synth. It's an uplifting track with fluttering melodies that make the track feel like it’s being carried upon the wings of a thousand butterflies.

"Ready to Fall" is a moody track with triplet rhythms that create an offbeat energy lifting the groove between the grounding thuds of the kick drum. Its delicate atmospherics and blues-inspired guitar chords are layered with soothing vocals that add majesty to this spellbinding cut.

"Traces" is a synth driven track that has a majestic flow combining haunting pads with gentle percussion and psychoactive melodies. It takes the album down a different path to the previous cuts, as it starts to expand the mind with hallucinogenic sound waves.

"Vermona" follows in the footsteps of Traces with its fragmented melodies that dance and bend around the beats of the percussion that underpin the track. This is the point when the album has the listener fully under its spell as it creates a feeling of blissful tranquillity.

"Myme" is the moment of inner awakening as its poignant pads and uplifting bassline radiate warm throughout the mind, body and soul. It's the penultimate track on the release before "Lisbon" brings the album to a close with the awakening energy of its upbeat synths and pulsating bassline.

Perfect for home listening, it's an intricate album with mood setting atmosphere and attention to detail, but all of the tracks are also well suited to a dance floor and use in a DJ set.

Jacob Groening - Nican (unders & Noraj Cue Remix) is the most direct of them all, but the airy and angelic vocals keep it heady and spiritual.

Boda de Muertos was an outstanding experience. Playing inside an hacienda in Atlixco with its high walls perfectly staged with the lighting was memorable. Everyone was dressed in their day of the dead outfits, and danced until sunrise.

On New Year’s Eve 2024, I had the honor of playing a DJ set at Réveillon Duna – an extraordinary and exclusive celebration held in the stunning Lençóis Maranhenses, Brazil. The festival took place in a protected reservoir hidden within the dunes of this surreal desert landscape, making it one of the most unique and unforgettable locations I’ve ever played at.

The production was absolutely world-class: intimate, thoughtfully designed, and carried out with so much love and attention to detail. The crowd was incredible – kind-hearted, open-minded, and extremely welcoming. It was an absolute joy to be part of this experience.

I had so much fun playing my set and I’m truly happy to finally share it with you.

When Berlin’s Jacob Groening and Barcelona’s Lennart Nicolas join forces, something special happens. Their new track “Solara Mira” is a dreamy, sun-soaked piece of chill-out music that showcases their shared passion for warm textures and laid-back grooves.
A track full of feel-good energy and subtle depth, “Solara Mira” drops on December 5th on Tori Music – a label dedicated to soulful, authentic sounds.

Lui Mafuta presents This Ain’t Jazz, a boundary-pushing new EP that fuses live musicianship
with electronic sensibility—an exploration of jazz influence through a deeply personal and
collaborative lens. 
The release is available on digital platforms and as a limited vinyl edition.
At the heart of This Ain’t Jazz is a long-gestating idea: to bridge electronic music with an
organic, band - oriented aesthetic. 

Lui Mafuta reunited with four longtime friends and collaborators - Paul Janoschka, Felix Roos, Jonas Esser, and Benedikt Jäckle - who all studied music together in Mannheim before scattering across the globe. Under the loose collective named Weiller, they came together once again to create a sound that lives between genres.

The EP is a globe-spanning production. Piano was recorded on Paul Janoschka’s Steinway in his Frankfurt apartment; trumpet and clarinet were tracked in a rural French studio with Felix Roos; drums came from New York via Jonas Esser; and saxophone was laid down in Lui’s own studio in Mannheim alongside Benedikt Jäckle. All elements were finally assembled and shaped into a cohesive vision back in Mannheim.

“There’s less synth work on this one than usual,” Lui says. “Most of the textures come from the instruments themselves and a lot of sample mangling. I wanted it to feel raw, human, and alive.”

Despite its title, This Ain’t Jazz is a love letter to jazz’s influence. “I called it that just to be safe,” Lui jokes. “It isn’t jazz—but it’s coming from that space.” The project also serves as a reconnection to his roots: two of the four featured musicians are teenage friends from his earliest days making music.

XX is the debut single from Tori Music, the new Label created in 2020 from the german producer Jacob Groening based in Berlin. It form the first track of an ep that is about to drop the next weeks.

The first track is an electronic piece without percussions. It seems a planned interlude becomes a synthetic orchestra with unforeseen effects and ending. Ladok combines chords with cut off staccato arpeggios with a sweet Iranian voice that hugs the song composition in one piece. XX is the title track of this ep and is the more demanding track but at the same time soft and pulsating. Enjoy varanasi the last track which is a more expressive instrumental track.
