As a traveler-without-age, Damo Suzuki has been touring all over space-time. Presenting the light of “instant composing” to new generations, he refers to his makeshift collaborators as sound-carriers. Exactly fifty years after the release of the profoundly iconic Ege Bamyası, we can hear his voice on yet another fantastic album, as in “derived from fantasy.” Manifested from the meeting with Spiritczualic Enhancement Center -- an eight-piece group of self-proclaimed disciples from the CAN University have gathered at Arkaoda (Turkish for “backroom”).

Named after the place in Berlin where it was recorded, this release freewheels down the Autobahn of Consciousness as it swerves along that ancestral road. A witness of this session was quoted calling it “unfiltered, freeform, de-programming music.” The LP’s three volatile tracks called U, Ra, Beya (Japanese for “backroom”) are unity-enhancing non-boolean excerpts from this gathering at the beginning of 2020.

Crossing over to Adelaide, odd wave minor players The Frenzied Bricks completely bypassed the history books with indifference. This madcap union of school friends Chris Merchant and David McCarthy cut void-entering motorik and weirdo monologues in bedrooms and suburban rehearsal studios. Rumoured to be an individual, they never bothered to disprove the gossip with live performance. They did however submit aspiring demos to community radio station 5MMM, where they were fortuitously stored for four decades.

The 7” marks the non-band’s debut release, combining two should-be classics from the vault. ‘(Can I) Bridge The Gap’ apathetically tunnels with Neu! Order energy, dual bass and McCarthy’s laconic vocal delivery, while their only instrumental ‘Entropy’ calls in guitarist and unofficial Brick Dave Warren to send the TR-808 into the stratosphere. Unknown until now, this is down under synth-wave at it’s finest.

Textures, rhythms and electrifying synth lines come together, immersing the audience in a hypnotic journey through sound. @airaboimusic is Aitor Rabell, at his most uninhibited, intimate and emotional. Born in Valencia and now based in Berlin, where he’s developed and expanded his sound, drawing on ambient and experimental as much as leftfield electronica and IDM. He runs his own label B.I.V. -  where he released his debut EP Endless Field - but also has releases on Barcelona stalwarts Lapsus or Modern Obscure Music (both from Barcelona), as well as in Berlin's R.I.O. If you’re looking to imagine what he might play on a Saturday afternoon at Sónar, best to look towards his mixes for LYL Radio or Red Light Radio: moving from the spaces occupied by his own productions into more dancefloor-friendly moods.
