Chris Liebing is synonymous with techno. His legacy is long assured, but his craft never stops evolving. Whether as label head, podcast curator, DJ or producer, he continues to challenge himself and his audience to explore new realms in the electronic world. And often ahead of the curve, too, from the early, hard-edged and loopy 90s sound which is back en vogue today, through his more stripped-back turn of the millennium minimalism and onto the cinematic atmospheres and broader alternative electronica of his latest albums on Mute. It's no stretch to say, then, that Chris Liebing's story is closely connected to the story of techno itself. 

Liebing is considered a global techno ambassador, but his ambitious album projects and direct club tracks excite and innovate as much as any new school star. A proudly forward-thinking attitude ensures that is the case as his DJ tools and studio setup constantly evolve. He continues to be an early adopter of emerging technology, too, just as he was with vinyl controllers, Traktor and when leading the way with full hybrid/live DJing. 

These days, Liebing incorporates an ever wider sphere of sound into his own work. After an eight-year break from full lengths, 2018's Burn Slow on Mute was a creative rebirth that received critical acclaim and confounded all expectations. It was a melancholic mediation on gothic moods, looming apocalyptic landscapes and optimistic broken-beat techno that drew from his childhood love of Depeche Mode, Gary Numan and the New Romantic movement. 

Remixes for Depeche Mode and Goldfrapp followed alongside a collaborative single with Charlotte De Witte, and 2021 brought a second album on Mute, Another Day. It found Liebing exploring all new ways of expressing both his euphoric and melodic side, all with high-grade technical skill and meticulous sonic craft with a range of collaborators from Miles Cooper Seaton to Polly Scattergood. This exceptional form continued into 2023 as he returned to the club with his Love Those Who Fight With Passion And Faith EP on CLR, a passionate and politically charged call to the dance floor that joined Liebing and Luke Slater’s remix of Depeche Mode’s iconic ‘Ghosts Again’ in the first half of the year. 

Born in Giessen and active ever since the 1990s, Liebing has always platformed the talent around him as much as himself: a long time before they were commonplace, he famously helmed his own CLR podcast. For many years, it was the scene's most influential series, with a who's who of international pioneers at the helm. After that came the equally important AM/FM radio show, but now following a hiatus, the CLR podcast is back and pushing a fresh techno agenda, as is his iconic label of the same name.

In its first chapter, CLR stood for Chris Liebing Records, then Create Learn Realize, and now Create Learn Repeat - a subtle evolution that is at the heart of everything Liebing does. The label will always be synonymous with exciting techno and is now back hosting parties and festival stages. 

Though his music is underpinned by pulsating menace and a stomping sense of drama, Liebing himself is friendly with a famous smile. It is the music that motivates him and the freedom that comes with increased experience. These days there are no limits, no expectations, but a continued love for the art and craft of techno that is taking him down all new creative pathways.

In the early age of 13 Rick Richter got influenced by electronic music what turned out to be the beginnig of a truely satisfying passion and got part of his life. Until May 2007 Rick Richter has spend plenty of time, having private mixing sessions together with friends and playing at a few clubs in and close to Darmstadt and Frankfurt, yet without any perspective for more. Nevertheless there was an important turning point in Rick Richter’s DJ career, as he met Pierre Morgan on a private party he played on May the 1st. 

Feeling confident about Rick’s understanding of electronic music, a close friendship has been developed.After the first gig together with Pierre Morgan, the relation took its next step when Rick Richter got Resident DJ of Pierre Morgan’s project WILD HOUSE – the secret party society, including a number of gigs at the lounge of former PRODO X in Darmstadt, which had been renamed into WILD HOUSE LOUNGE. Playing as Resident at the Wild House Events, Rick Richter was pleased to spin records with DJ’s such as SEBBO, DJ Tanith, Andy Düx & Holgi Star aka Holger Nielson. 
Up from now, Rick Richter got more involved into Pierre Morgan’s project and established together with him an electronic music party community – a family that is constantly growing. 

Furthermore Rick Richter had been given the opportunity to play at some well known clubs, such as the Groove Club (Gelsenkirchen, GER), Lighthouse (Essen, GER) or at the unique CAVE CLUB in Salzburg (AUT). In 2009 Rick was asked to play at the OMEN Connection, a well known revival party series from Frankfurts most curious club in the 90's - The OMEN, hosted by Sven Väth. It was a real pleasure to play with DJ Dag, Remute and many more but especially because the OMEN had to shut its doors even before Rick Richter's career had begun. In that years Rick Richter created his own particular sound, which can be described as detroit techno focussed with constantly integration of deep and tech house as well as minimal sounds. Rick Richter creates everytime he plays a unique composition of tracks he loves. Electronic music is in Rick's case, like bringing people to go with him on a musical journey where the music lets you dive deeper and deeper and kicks you out again and again. 

In the past three years Rick started his own project GoingFurther and got involved into Berlin's famous lifestyle and music culture due to a close friendship with LALOQUITA, a berlin located underground fashion label. Out of that he played at several venues and Berlin's Butt & Better Parade, Karneval der Kulturen Berlin 2015. In addition to that he took part at the ECLIPSIS party in Wiesbaden and played next to AMIR (bouq) and others, which was such a great success that just a half year later Rick was invited to play as the main act at Eclipsis Family Event at Gambrinus Club in Bad Homburg and got part of the luxorlune community. Now Rick focusses on so called "Under300" events made by his community GoingFurther or other labels within the EU.

Before I got into this music I wanted to be an originator ; I wanted to be original".
Founding member of the legendary group Underground Resistance as a 'Minister Of Information' with ‘Mad’ Mike Banks & Jeff Mills, his seminal works on Jeff Mill's Axis and his very own M-Plant imprint paved the way for a wave of stripped-down dancefloor minimalism that directed much of techno's path throughout the late Nineties.
Robert Hood makes minimal Detroit techno with an emphasis on soul and experimentation over flash and popularity. 

"Growing up in Detroit, I grew up with Motown in the house - a lot of Motown and Philadelphia soul, artists like Marvin Gaye of course and Curtis Mayfield. I remember Isaac Hayes, the soundtrack from ‘Shaft’ had come out. My father was a jazz musician; he played piano, trumpet and drums. My mother was in an R’n’B group.
We listened to a lot of Motown - in fact, my grandfather’s first cousin is Berry Gordy.

In the early 90's he began to concentrate on his own production 'Vision EP', the 'Riot EP' and X-102 were big stepping-stones for him as they were the first releases he worked 100% on his own. The X-101 to X-102, were Waveform Transmission projects with Mills for Tresor. He slowly progressed to work more and more on his own, but collaberated on some of the first Axis releases with label owner Jeff Mills as H&M (Hood & Mills) with ‘Tranquilizer EP’ and ‘Drama’.

He soon decided it was time for him to start his own label to focus on what was in his soul musically. M-Plant started in ’94. I had developed this “grey area” sound - what I mean by that is that in Detroit, even when the sun is out, there’s something in the atmosphere. I don’t know if its pollution or whatever, but the sky has that grey haze over it. It’s got to be something from the industrial factories there. I’d never really heard a sound like that before and it came from a Roland Juno - it was a chord sound that really went along with my depiction of what Detroit was at that time. A lot of buildings were abandoned and there was a lot of lifelessness in the city, especially downtown. The M-Plant, in minimalism, kind of reflected that. I remember thinking of Detroit like a museum. You know, like a work of art standing still, suspended in time. There wasn’t a whole lot of activity going on.

Releasing singles such as "Internal Empire,", “The Protein Valve” "Music Data," and "Moveable Parts", "The Pace", more recently "Range", "Alpha" and that isn't even touching his other monikers Floorplan, Monobox, The Vision, etc.
"M-Plant is what I've always wanted to hear: the basic stripped down, raw sound. Just drums, basslines and funky grooves and only what's essential. Only what is essential to make people move. I started to look at it as a science, the art of making people move their butts, speaking to their heart, mind and soul. “It's a heart-felt rhythmic techno sound. M-Plant is just M. minimal. “

Although his desire to remain underground has been replaced by an urge to reach a wider audience, mainly via his housier, disco, gospel moniker Floorplan with his daughter Lyric Hood,   Hood remains fiercely critical of artistic and economic movements destructive to inner-city communities and has combined his musical enterprises with outreach and social activist ends.
