Our guest this week is MOB (LB) (@mohamed-badran), a Lebanese music producer & DJ. His career started in 2012 and with a passion for music and self-taught skills, MOB began performing in a restaurant before establishing himself at the iconic club B018 in Beirut. His talent for organizing successful events featuring international DJs garnered him recognition within the local underground scene.

In pursuit of opportunities, MOB moved to Barcelona where he became a resident DJ at Art Lounge and City Hall, and founded SanctumBCN, a music collective that hosted private events in the mountains, combining breathtaking landscapes with compelling music.

Returning to Beirut in 2019, MOB became a resident DJ at several prominent bars, beach clubs, and restaurants. His experience spans clubs, festivals and private events, allowing him to tailor his performances to diverse audiences. His talents caught the attention of AddMind, a leading hospitality group, where he gained insights into the hospitality industry. This led to his role as a resident DJ at three venues, culminating in his appointment as music director at CLAP and SKINN, a high-end restaurant/lounge and nightclub.

Simultaneously, MOB embarked on production in 2023. Thanks to a deep understanding of rhythm, keys, and musical structure, his releases (on labels like Mango Alley, Kitchen Recordings, Sublime Notion and One Of A Kind) have been widely supported.

Welcome back to the 12th episode of the Drift State mix series! This week's guest is a rising star who's been taking the world of progressive house by storm, please welcome @cendrymamusic!

Hailing from the verdant landscapes of Oregon, USA, Daniel Sampson a.k.a. Cendryma weaves the raw power of nature into the fabric of his music. Growing up in the stormy Pacific Northwest,
Cendryma's sound echoes the elemental forces of the ocean’s fury, rain-soaked skies, and winter's solitude. Incorporating environmental elements like rain samples beneath driving basslines and darker tones reflecting moody winters, Cendryma creates deeply textured, captivating, and soulful compositions that resonate with listeners, imbuing his music with a dynamic atmosphere.

As a producer, Cendryma embraces an organic approach to music creation, allowing the process to unfold naturally. By developing loops and ideas over time, he creates intricately woven
compositions that evoke both motion and emotion. His label ‘Cydana Sounds’ acts as a personal
vessel for creative exploration. While he envisions the potential for collaborating with other artists
in the future, it currently serves as an intimate platform for his own work. Cendryma’s live
performances and DJ sets embody the fluidity of his production style. His SoundCloud "DJ Set"
series showcases this organic approach, transitioning from introspective ambient passages to
vibrant, driving beats. His early tracks, including "Function" and the debut EP Terraform/Wired,
alongside the recent EP Era Mobilus, have received significant acclaim. Furthermore, his most
recent release "Pass Through," on Forty Cats' Purrfection Records is generating considerable buzz.

Looking ahead, Cendryma seeks to expand his impact within the global Progressive House scene. With upcoming releases on esteemed labels like Pattern and UV, alongside new projects under his Cydana Sounds imprint, he is set to delve deeper into electronic music. His forthcoming EP will refine his sound by blending signature melodic elements with innovative concepts, reflecting a dynamic journey rooted in Progressive House yet looking beyond traditional boundaries. Cendryma’s journey has only just begun!

ARTIST BIO

Hunter was born and raised in Budapest, Hungary.
He got a taste of the disc jockey profession relatively early, at the age of 13-14 he was doing school discos, summer camp discos, mixing music from tapes by using cassette players.

In the early 90s the rise of the new electronic dance music, the arrival of house and techno music in the clubs of Budapest, and the enchantment of the classic 2 turntables + mixer setup with the dj using vinyls sealed his further ambitions in his life. His love for the black vinyl discs also began at that time, which continues to this day.

In 1999 he moved to the United States to pursue his dj career. He spent his first years in North Carolina, where he was active in the local underground club scene by organizing afterparties.
In 2003 he moved to New Jersey, close to New York City, where he dreamed to become a club DJ.
The next 15 years he was djing in many clubs in NYC, such as Pacha, Webster Hall, Sullivan Room, Rebel, Club Love, Water Taxi Beach, Bar 13, Slake etc..
Also he actively participated in the American Hungarian community by organizing events, and inviting Hungarian underground club djs to the USA. He fought for larger Hungarian events to have a smaller room where underground club music was played.

In December of 2017 he moved back to Budapest.
In 2018 he joined Prime FM, where he is still active today. Hunter really introduced himself to the Hungarian progressive house scene on December 6th. 2019 at Cinema Hall, when he played a 2,5 hour closing set after the legendary Nick Warren!
Since then he performed at numerous parties alongside with Guy J, Nick Warren, Alex O’Rion, Guy Mantzur, Magdalena, Sebastian Busto, Fernando Ferreyra, Moshic, Marcelo Vasami, Nicolas Rada, Ezequiel Arias, D-Formation, Undercatt, Kasper Koman, Chicola, Cream, Ruben Karapetyan and many more.

ABOUT OTTAWA PROG VIBES

Alain M.'s weekly podcast, Ottawa Prog Vibes, is now in its 7th year and is a recognized presence among Canadian Electronica shows. The show has two goals: showcase progressive DJ's from Ottawa (and Canada) to a global audience, and bring international DJ guests to an Ottawa (and Canadian) audience). 

Alain plays three out of every 10 shows. His mixing has been noted as particularly creative and smooth, a skill that allow his sets to be experienced as seamless stories.

An offshoot series, called Mellow Prog Vibes, is released every two weeks and focuses on more chill vibes, slightly more downtempo, to create a more relaxed vibe. It is curated by OPV resident DJ Boraa, who plays every other episode, with guest DJs playing the alternate.

Ottawa Prog Vibes and Mellow Prog Vibes are broadcast weekly on UK's Saturo Radio, New York's Chill Lover Radio and Ottawa's Blast the Radio.


ABOUT ALAIN M.

Alain M. started dj’ing in his early 20s and played a variety of clubs, big and small, in Ottawa, Montreal and Kingston. From teenage influences in progressive rock, metal and blues, and later New York and Chicago house, Dutch techno and early trance, his style has evolved towards the more melodic, infectiously rhythmic and thoughtful sounds of progressive house, with a particular fondness for Argentinian productions.

Over his 30+ years as a DJ, Alain has cultivated a signature melodic, danceable, and thoughtful style with enough surprises to keep even the most devout listeners on their toes. His live events, organized only a few times annually, are a hypotonic, transformational experience for attendees, putting the Nation’s Capital on the map for electronic music. He has organized and collaborated in a number of events including Levitar, Sunday Meet & Beat, Sit-Down Sessions, Shake my Thursday and Expeditions, attracting a thoughtful crowd who stay mesmerized by his melodic, danceable sets, always peppered with delightfully unexpected sonic elements.

Alain M. is also a guest DJ submitting regular sets to several radio and online outlets. He is a resident on X-Beat Radio (France, Belgium). He was a monthly resident on Abyss Sound Experience on QuestLondon Radio in 2021 and on UK-based Beach Radio between 2021 and 2024.

He has appeared as a guest on a number of shows in several countries including the UK, Argentina, Spain, Poland, Brazil, Sri Lanka, Peru, Turkey, Israel and the US. In Canada, he has been featured as a guest DJ at several events by Ottawa-based Music.Art.Ppl, on CHUO FM’s Vanguard Pulse Radio, on CKCU FM’s Lost In Bass and Mapped Out Radio, on Montreal’s Afterhour radio show and on Toronto’s ION radio show.
