Shevchenko is a Dutch electropop band and was formed in the year 2010. Their music is often associated with the chillwave movement, but they are mainly influenced by the ‘80s synthpop, Italo disco and house from the ‘90s.

The indietronica adventurers Bram de Gruijter and Mark de Groot are inspired by vestiges from the Sovjet era and holiday memories from their youth. The band was created out of love for French house and electrical guitars. The combination of wave-like synths and Balearic beats create a solid basis, which is filled with summery guitartextures in a bath of reverb.

They would best describe the genre as being sungaze. A term with which the shoegaze-survivors refer to as the summer holiday-feeling. Shevchenko loves parties, but takes you to dark places, chased by feelings of melancholy.
