Fallout

This piece is designed using several different types of sound.  It creates an aural space in which you can do quiet work, such as read, or write. Do yoga, meditation or suchlike.

The river is a recording of the river Dove in Derbyshire, England.  It's white noise helps to mask unwanted sounds in your local environment.  And the complexity of the river sound may help the mind to stay calm.

The musical elements are made up of a combination of bell-like sounds.  They are put together using pure-tone intervals, that is whole number ratios.  These provide perfect harmonic resonance.  This is in complete contrast to the music normally heard, which is most often made up of irrational intervals (to be technical the equal tempered semitone 1.059).

Loved This weeks assignment! I dug out an older ambience. I heard this piece (22 minutes long) so often I really don’t recognize it anymore when its playing - so this pretty much is "an aural scent" for me. Added a simple bass and some synth-icing on top.

**Disquiet Junto Project #150: Sonic Perfume**

Record a subtle personal mobile score.

The instructions for this week’s project are as follows. Special thanks to Jorge Colombo for inspiring the idea.

Step 1: Consider the time you heard quiet music and didn’t know where it came from, only to realize you’d left your MP3 player running in your pocket.

Step 2: Record a short piece of music with that as the intended purpose. That is, imagine a world not too far in the future when people regularly have a quiet music, a personal score, surrounding them, just as one might wear perfure or cologne.

Step 3: Upload the finished track to the Disquiet Junto group on SoundCloud.

Step 4: Listen to and comment on tracks uploaded by your fellow Disquiet Junto participants.

Length: Your finished work should be about three minutes long.

Deadline: This assignment was made in the evening, California time, on Thursday, November 13, with 11:59pm on the following Monday, November 17, 2014, as the deadline.
