TAWHEED | Explanation of the Statement of Tawheed | Abu Iyaad Amjad Rafiq

22.06.2015 - The following were the questions posed to Shaykh Saalim Baamihriz on 22nd June, 2015 after Muwahhideen Publications' lecture entitled, "Graduating From The School of Ramadhaan with a Degree in Disobeying Lowly Desires": [The minute markers where each question was asked is aattached next to each question]

1. I recently saw a saying of al-Qaadhee that one who eats openly during Ramadhaan should be denounced, referring to the menstruating woman and those whose illness is not apparent. Is this correct and how can this be avoided for the Muslims who work and are seen by others? [00:00:09]

2. If a man forces his wife to have intercourse in the day time of Ramadhaan and she initially refuses but eventually enjoys it, does she also have to do the expiation? [00:03:37]

3. What is upon the person who has missed many days from previous Ramadhaans due to heedlessness and is unsure of the number of days missed? [00:05:37]

4. What is the ruling on a woman paying zakat on her gold jewellery, land etc. if she does not work and her husband is the sole breadwinner of the family? [00:07:26]

5. What is the ruling on someone who has to take tablets every two to three hours every day and is unable to fast as a result? Does this individual have to feed someone for every day missed or could they just make a meal to feed 30 people? [00:09:35]

6. If someone goes to a masjid for Taraaweeh and the Imaam is praying 20 rak’at and the individual decides to leave when he finishes 10 rak’at, could he go home and pray one rak’ah for witr to make it 11 or does he have to follow the Imaam and pray 20 rak’ah? [00:13:18]

7. Is it from the Sunnah for the Imaam to make the Qunoot in the Witr every night in Ramadhaan? And should he add to the legislated du’aa every time he makes the Qunoot? [00:15:16]

8. Should the hands be raised during the Qunoot? [00:18:24]

9. Is it more rewarding to recite the Qur’aan with wudhoo and is there a difference in reward if a person reads from a phone rather than the actual mushaf? [00:18:54]

10. There is a hadeeth that says whoever prays with the Imaam until he finishes praying will get the reward of praying the entire night. The word used is "insiraaf", does this mean finishing the prayer or actually leaving the masjid? Does the person who wants this reward have to stay until the Imaam leaves the masjid? [00:21:46]

11. Is it permissible for women to use extensions made out of yarn, where it is clear that it is not hair? [00:23:26]

12. Is it permissible to have dreadlocks? [00:25:09]

[17/10/2016] The Remedy To Feeling Low & Weak In Your Faith (Īmān) - By Abu Idrees Muhammad Khān حفظه الله. Masjid Salafi, Small Heath, Birmingham, UK.

- A principle with Ahlus-Sunnah regarding the increase and decrease of īmān.

- The reality that none of us are exempt from our īmān decreasing. 

- Reasons for a decrease in īmān. 

- 1. Turning away from the remembrance of Allāh. 

- The consequences of turning away from the remembrance of Allāh. 

- 2. Sins

- “…And whoever disobeys Allāh and His Messenger, he has indeed strayed in a plain error.” [Sūrah al-Ahzāb 33:36]

- Picking up each other when we are down, and using the scales of Ar-Rahmān to solve our problems.

- Ibn al-Mubārak (رحمه الله) on the grave consequences of sins. 

- 3. Abandoning the truth.

- “…then whenever there comes to you Guidance from Me, and whoever follows My Guidance, there shall be no fear on them, nor shall they grieve.” [Sūrah al-Baqarah 2:38]

- The condition for sadness, grief and fear to be removed from us. 

- Truthfully taking account of ourselves.

- What is making us fall short regarding the rights of our Lord?

- The vicious cycle of falling short and decreasing in īmān. 

- Diagnosing our problems in order to solve them. 

- 4. Companionship

- The harm of using your own intellect and scales to judge your companion.

- The true companion.

- The regret on the Day of Judgment for the one who chose the wrong companions.

- The best of the people.

- The sign that we need to change our companions.

- 5. Trials

- A warning against forsaking the dīn and using trials as an excuse to be distant from Allāh.

- Following the example of the Prophets (عليهم السلام) and Salaf (رحمهم الله) in drawing closer to Allāh by way of trials. 

- 6. Giving importance to the dunyā over the ākhirah.

- Hasan al-Basrī (رحمه الله) on the verse, “…So let not this present life deceive you, and let not the chief deceiver (Satan) deceive you about Allāh.” [Sūrah Fātir 35:5]

- How we should reflect when we hear/recite verses of the Qur’ān. 

- Caution against exchanging something that is worthless and will come to an end for something that is everlasting. 

-  Warnings from the Messenger ﷺ regarding the dunyā.

- A golden statement from the Salaf describing this dunyā and how we should navigate it.

- Yahyā b. Mu’ādh (رحمه الله) on the intoxication of this dunyā. 

- The remedy for weak īmān. 

- The heart and soul’s need for sustenance in order to survive. 

- The only thing that gives life to the heart and soul.

- A hadīth regarding the reality of the dunyā and the importance of the remembrance of Allāh. 

- The only thing in this world that is not cursed.

- Al-A’raj (رحمه الله) on what causes a blessing to turn into a calamity. 

- The critical role of knowledge in remedying weak īmān, sadness, anxiety and stress. 

- The wretched soul.

- Equipping ourselves for the battle against Shaytān and his relentless efforts to destroy us. 

- Resolving to analyse and rectify ourselves.
