The South London based Church imprint continue their output of quality house and techno music with the next instalment of their white label series from neighbour Laurence Guy. According to his bio, Laurence was “raised by strippers in the dressing room of a Chicago lapdancing club with only a stack of Prince records for company.” While we can’t confirm that, the maker of punchy house music has certainly got our attention. Taken from his upcoming EP of the same name, i-D exclusively share Kojak. The smooth summertime jam eases you in with the gentlest of percussion, synth whirs and chimes, before drums and blissfully distorted bass holds your hand all the way to groove town. Press play.

Premiere: Carlo - Kynf (Good Ratio Music)

A man who is no stranger to the label, Tom Demac returns to the legendary Bristol based Hypercolour imprint with two elegantly deep and intricately layered  tracks with The Shuttle Awaits EP. Tom’s beats are usually more known for heading down the dance floor damaging path, with his hardware laden, club pounding techno productions becoming somewhat of a calling card. But with this release, we see him venture down a different path. The EP is the Welsh born producers sixth offering for the label and we’re excited to have the premiere of the stellar B side, Dave Saints. The track is a seven minute venture down a deep and mesmerising path, with warm, swelling synth pads, reverberated stabs and a ghostly vocal to top things off. This is certainly one of Tom’s finest creations. Press play.

After a successful run of singles on Tru Thoughts in 2014, Titeknots is back with brand new club cuts to launch his new label Press Something Play Something.

In a short time Titeknots has made large strides, putting his mark in the House scene with a sound that blends cut and paste rough and ready Hip Hop production techniques with House tempos. Finding a delicate balance between musicality and functional dancefloor production, the previous Titeknots releases instantly grabbed the attention of some heavy hitters in the club world. “Buzzard Walk” is a calling card for the Titeknots sound. With his original string parts chopped and layered until they sound like a loop lifted from a record, they sit on top of a driving drum track and solid bass, carrying a piece of pastoral English beauty into the club environment.

16 Bit Lolitas - Sediment

Secretsundaze 18th transmission comes with love from Bristol based artist and newcomer Shanti Celeste. With just a few releases under her belt on the likes of Julio Bashmore's Broadwalk, her own label BRSTL and Idle Hands (the infamous Bristol shop where she also man's the counter a few days a week) she has been quick to impress. She played secretsundaze earlier in 2015 and will play our birthday party in just a few weeks and is a fine DJ with great selection and skills. She recently played back to back with Julio Bashmore on Boiler Room. Her monthly show on NTS Radio has been building nicely so we thought it only right to invite her to do her first 12' for us. This will also be her first release on a non Bristol based label so a coup for secretsundaze we think.

A.1 'Golden' is a hypnotic, bouncy house groove that doesn't stick the regular 90's house template with some great synth action and manages to be both wistful and and bumpin at the same time. 'Nu4him' is a stunning, moody track with lush chords and Shanti's own vocal refrains. 'Golden dub' breaks it down for a more experimental techno excursion eschewing some of the melodic flourishes of its counterpart with heavy kick, 808's and some detroity vibes. Final cut 'Sun' starts off all ambient and atmospheric later picking up the pace with some more stomping electro influences.

secretsundaze has been on a great run of late with Endian's 'Finish Me' featured on the likes on Joy Orbison and Scuba's Radio 1's Essential mixes and 'SS1' on Nick Hoppner's well received Resident Advisor Podcast. Shanti Celeste one of 2015's breakthrough artists continues in that veign with 'Alma.'

16 Bit Lolitas make their return after a break from the EDM scene with a brand new album released on June 22nd through their own Bits & Pieces label. Peter Kriek and Ariaan Olieroock proudly present 'SÜPERMÅRKT'. This 73 minute journey features 11 original tracks and one 16 Bit Lolitas remix of UNKLE's 'Money and Run' (feat. Nick Cave).

Working together since 2004, and known for emotional, patiently crafted tracks such as 'Murder Weapon', 'The Puppet Show', 'Sedna' and 'Nobody Seems To Care', 16 Bit Lolitas now reveal a new work of musical art. And despite their ability to move along with the sound of time, really the best thing about ''SÜPERMÅRKT' is the fact that they always stays true to their roots. 16 BL:"Trying to move with the times is like walking a tight-rope during an earthquake sometimes. In the end, whenever we're in the process of making an album, we always go back to just making some music we like. And this time, unsurprisingly, it is no different. The underground scene has changed a lot, yet some aspects of it will never change. We try to move with the time, but never away from ourselves. So after a long pilgrimage we've arrived at a sound that is new, but still very much 16BL."

With the mission to bring music that stimulates the body, the brain and the soul, ''SÜPERMÅRKT' is deeper and darker than 16 Bit Lolitas' last album, the Warung compilation. 16 BL: "We try to stay connected but also unconnected at the same time. The most important thing in the end is that we follow our hearts musically and create music we feel strongly about. This has always been at the core of 16 Bit Lolitas. Not so much to fit into a style or genre but just to make underground music that moves us. With this album we're moving forward and also backward at the same time." 'SÜPERMÅRKT' contains a bit of everything and hopefully something for everybody. We used both vintage gear and modern soft- and hardware to create this album. Blending different textures creates an organic space that we like to swim around in. It also brings a warmer, more 'earthy' vibe to the music. We also feature Lucy Iris in 3 tracks on the album. She brings haunting yet very seductive vocals to this album. There is a lot of power in these vocals, yet in a very subdued and subtle way, saying more by saying less. Also we will be premiering a remix we did for UNKLE feat. Nick Cave. Something we are very proud of.'

16 Bit Lolitas melt the depths of progressive with the elusive strings of emotional deep-house melodies, rocktronica and styles far beyond. Fusing sounds and making different dance genres meet, it gives a great taste of the 16 Bit Lolitas strategy. Both fit to rock the dance floor, as well as home-listening, 'Supermarkt' adopts to the listeners' state of mind. And that is exactly what 16 Bit Lolitas is all about.
