The Owl of Minerva are an alternative rock, melodic metal band from Padova, north Italy. 
Their sound is defined by a mix of modern heavy rock, mid-tempos and melancholic melodies alternated by heavly effected shoegazing guitars, and dreamy atmospheres. 

The band released an ep in the end of 2008, under the monicker "Willow", later on they focused on playing shows in their local area and writing songs for their full lenght, choosing to sign their first contract with the label "Jetglow Recordings". 

The Owl of Minerva released their first full length debut album titled "Bright Things Turn Gray" in February of 2015. The record is a ten songs trip with melancholic and dreamy atmospheres sung in an alternative rock/metal fashion, visualized by a complete 16 page booklet filled with artworks.



David has a very unique style to his playing which has developed through his extensive experience of drum solo performances. As a drummer he has performed in festival, street, and event settings throughout the world including the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Spain, and Africa.

He has studied and, continues to study, many musical genres and plays a broad range of styles including Break Beat, Latin, African, Funk, Drum and Bass, Hip Hop and Jazz. David is also an advocate to the on-going theoretical and practical teachings of Benny Greb’s “Language Of Drumming” system.

David also spent one year travelling throughout remote communities and villages in Malawi, Africa where he learnt the invaluable roots of traditional Malawian music and culture, which he now improvises into his playing. Whilst in Africa he also played at festivals, schools, youth centres, orphanages and clubs.

Some of David’s live solo performances have included Glastonbury Dance Village, Lake of Stars in Africa, Milan Design Fair, Alexandra Palace London playing support before The Black Keys, Florence and the Machine, and Bombay Bicycle Club, Pavillion Theatre Brighton UK, London Student Awards, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre London and The London 2012 Olympic Road Cycling.

He has appeared in Time Out Magazine, The London Paper, The Evening Standard, DrumBum and Source Music Magazine.

David’s is kept busy with his solo project, Puncture Kit. He is the designer and drummer of Puncture Kit… it’s his bicycle and drum kit.

Recordings of Puncture Kit can be heard on his album “The Bicycle Drummer”. The album is a mix of original drumming/ percussion compositions, showcasing a diverse collection of David’s favourite western and world rhythms. INDIVIDUAL DRUM LESSONS.

You can book David for one on-one-drum lessons. These are held at Under The Bridge Studios in Brighton UK. From beginners to those that just want fresh ideas, you are most welcome.

David can teach anything from basic drumming techniques to the development of solo drumming performances and the creation of original drum parts for a variety of band and musical situations. He focuses on how the student can express their musical feelings through the medium of drums and percussion using disciplined structure, practice, composition and improvisation, which can assist the student at any level.

David continues to dedicate his own study to Benny Greb’s “Language of Drumming” system. Containing a wealth of drumming information, he places a great deal of importance on the use of this book and it’s abundance of techniques and teachings for all styles of musical situations.

Other topics David can teach are creative methods for playing and practicing with a click track as well as providing studio recording tips and drum recording techniques.  He has a lot of experience playing live drums and recording drums to original electronic music and in electronic music composition. Above all, there are many ways to learn and play an instrument…David has his own original spin on both.

Lesson range from 30min to 1 hour. A suggested lesson duration guide would be:

    5 – 12 year olds – 30min
    12 years and up – 30min to 1 hour.

Ages for lessons and experience don’t matter…just the desire!
