The high level of the musicianship is a given, all great and creative players but what makes this for me is your arrangement Dean, and how you selected  memories from the past to mix with todays musical use of vocalize and wit and your very delightfully modern guitar solo and organ phrases. I think Miles would smile when he got to your solo and appreciate your dedication to keeping the music alive and still have fun!

Gone with the Wind

Lawrence Welk and a friend on the ride of their lives, featuring the brilliant muliti-horn playing of Chuck Weirich and the slick percussion of Jimmy Rivas.  Aleck Rand devised the concept and arrangement, borrowing, appropriately on the occasion of Miles Davis's 91st birthday, from Clifford Brown (Chuck recalls one of Clifford's most famous compositions) and no less than Duke Ellington (ditto).  If you recognize either or both of their classics, don't fail to mention it in a comment.

Pistons, Valves & Cylinders

A jazz rock tune using some fast grooves and subtle ethnic references (Latin, African). After a few themes I break out into bass and guitar solo sections that are more fusionesque.  Rhythms are high in pace and pave the way for high velocity playing and improvisation. Firing on all engines. ;) I chose the same setting as my recent other electric pieces, straight trio playing without much overdubbing relying on space and tension between the instruments.

Short Tales of the Green Forest

This is a trio piece for acoustic guitar, exploring different styles and moods, ranging from Jazz and Fusion to Flamenco, Classical and Latin. It is free in form, sometimes it flows into new sections to another times abruptly switching. I play all three parts with a main solo part that regularly is improvised. 

The title is a nod to the famous guitar trio... ;)

SHORT TALES OF THE ROADS LESS TRAVELLED 

This is a second session recorded after my previous track SHORT TALES OF THE GREEN FOREST last week, where I let the inspiration take me in whatever directions I feel are right, crossing the borders of several styles or genres. I use a trio acoustic guitar setting, allowing more intricacies and a richer rhythmical and harmonic range. This one travels across more oriental and Latin roads, occasionally passing by more Jazz and fusion ones. 

I hope it can also take you away on a little journey. As always I appreciate your comments, likes and shares tremendously.

A Minute

This track is a very groove - driven one with guitars and guitarish lines, riffs and chops played and triggered completely by keys...
That's why it's titled "Keypoint".

Well, the socalled keypoint here is, that guitars triggered and played via the keys of a keyboard usually sound crappy or simply not authentic. At least I tried to execute the "axe" ...
But there are more points to get hooked by this track - it was a real pleasure to jam and build it up for me, filling it with a bunch of ideas and a whole lot of groove!

And that's for sure one of the major keypoints for me:
being pleased, satified and driven by positive energy...
in times when these aren't self-evident.

Hope you'll get hooked by optimism while listening as well!
