Now that the economy has collapsed and we're entering a second great depression, everyone is living in poverty and were being reminded what the blues are all about. Just like 100 years ago during the first great depression when that was one of the most popular forms of music. Because when you don't got any money, or any capital, and you ain't got nothin' to your name, all you got in this world is the blues. So for all of you folks out there living in poverty like me stressing about how you're going to pay all of your bills each month, I wrote this original song just for you. This is called "The Got No Damn Money Blues".  

Recorded using my Gretsch Jim Dandy Concert Acoustic/Electric Guitar, A Epiphone Dot Studio Hollow Body Electric Guitar, an Ibanez SR405 5 String Electric Bass Guitar, a Headrush Gigboard, a Lewitt LCT 240 Pro Microphone, a Sennheiser e405 Microphone, Reaper Digital Audio Workstation, and a cheap tambourine and shaker lol.

Update:
In the summer of 2022, my dear old friend Mick and longtime musical companion died of cancer.

I have agreed with him that I will continue to run our site in his spirit. Our amazing, unique music will live on forever.

Omar Torrez’s musical recipe is equal parts post-modern rock, Mexican and Cuban Son, gutbucket blues, spiced with stunning guitar wizardry and soulful songwriting.

The Mexican-American artist first gained notoriety as a finalist at the Jimi Hendrix Guitar Competition at the Bumbershoot Festival, using a borrowed guitar. 

He is best known as Tom Waits’ guitarist on the Glitter & Doom world tour. 
His latest record, A Night of Serious Drinking, was produced by Tony Berg (Michael Penn, Aimee Mann, Bob Dylan, Pink, Public Image Ltd.). The single “Marina” won 3rd place in the Latin category of the International Songwriting Competition in 2012. 

He most recently began collaborating with legendary Russian songwriter/singer Boris Grebenshikov, touring in Montenegro, Israel and Spain.

Omar recorded a duo record with Eric McFadden in Cholula, Mexico , and is finishing a new record to be released by Discos Intolerance. (Mexico)

Since then, Torrez has won fans worldwide through international festivals and humanitarian work. In addition to Tom Waits and Boris Grebenshchikov, Torrez has shared the stage with Buena Vista Social Club, Jethro Tull, Tony Levin, Bill Laswell, Kinky, Sidestepper, Pancho Sanchez and many more.
