More than 10 years after the previous episode number 08, the Cement Mixer has resumed its churning. Manchester selector Wilson Logan of Quadrant Soundscape / Dub Explorations gets busy loading it up!

"If this were a film there would be a cut scene that says “10 years later”. It's not a film so there is no cut scene. It is still 10 years later however and I have the honour of refuelling the mixer and churning out some more concrete.

This is a mix that has haunted my sub-conscious for about a year now. Something I've been meaning to record for a long time. A mix full of left-field, back of the crate selections, stuff I love but sadly very rarely get to play. House, Techno, Electro, Breakbeat, Hypnotic Salad Jazz, Amish House, Terminator 2 (Judgement Day) Techno etc.

It's all in there. In fact, any genre you can think of or make up is in there, (even if it's not, it is).

Its all in the mix, and it's all cement.

We close out this 10-years of Avenue Red mini series with a debut mix from veteran crate digger and deep house & techno specialist, Tomas Bexton from Maidstone in Kent, England. A vinyl-only session. This is mostly comprised of some of our all-time favourite oldskool deep house gems, mixed with utmost smoothness! 10/10.

"I am not a professional DJ or a music producer, you could call me a long-standing vinyl collector of electronic and (mostly) house music since the 1990's. This mix focuses mainly on deep house with a definite nod to a couple of decades back at least.

My aim is to let the records and music do the work, with (hopefully!) a smooth mixing style. I want to feel a sense of peace through the records, maintaining the deep feel throughout. If you've got a remote interest in anything dub techno and reside in the Manchester area your guna have a good idea about this prolific duo. Both have been long time customers of the record shop, and have been honing there craft for many years now. It's also been super rewarding seeing them achieve so much with there club night 'Dub Explorations' which is held at Eastern Bloc on the regular. Expect the highest quality sub frequency rhythms to get lost in, (perfect for these winter evenings) get a good look at the tracklisting to, some real peaches tucked within this 3 hour journey.

I also love all kinds of eclectic stuff including disco, boogie, Italo, synth pop, nu jazz, jazzdance, lounge, trip-hop, downtempo, dub, reggae, jungle, liquid drum & bass, IDM, electronica, Warp, Ninja Tune etc.

In summer 2013 I set up the Avenue Red (@avenue-red) imprint to push quality material from a wide plethora of DJs and artists who I have particular respect for in terms of their musical output, artistry and dedication to the cause.
